I was messing around with Blender a while back. Some At the Mountains of Madness inspiration. It's the same set-up save for playing around with the lighting. I'm sure there must have been a reason the bridge didn't snake towards the centre...live and learn!

Did you know the British [allegedly] went to war over an ear? Or the Assassins wanted to hand over Damascus to the Crusaders to punish their own allies? The world and our history are weird. Your TTRPG game should be too! michaelghelfistudios.com/weird-in-wor...

Crows: Fortune or Death has made its crowdfunder stretch goal! The Steam mod is on its way and it'll be cool to see how it shapes up on the Codex. Never tried the VTT so be interesting to compare it to Foundry, R20, Fantasy Grounds, Alchemy, Owl Bear Rodeo... how many VTTs have I actually tried?!

Something a bit different today. Grab 6 dice (d4 to d20) and get an adventure seed or two with an environment, area aspect, feature, NPC, complication, and secret. Match together as fits! For GMs in a hurry or wanting an inspiration bump. michaelghelfistudios.com/desert-all-i...

Hello darkness my old friend? This blog highlight is looking at the power of silence and ways to use it in TTRPG sessions. michaelghelfistudios.com/using-silence/ Did you know responding in conversation within 2 seconds helps it feel smooth? Longer pauses causes awkwardness, intended or otherwise!

Incidentally, this blog highlight looks at different ways groups can handle death. For the record, I'm always in favour of death being possible if it's meaningful. Big exceptions are games like Hollowpoint and Paranoia where it's often outright funny. michaelghelfistudios.com/character-de...

This was an interesting video: youtu.be/uJgl4Bf4Bnk?... One conclusion is different groups play the same game in different ways; by extension, they're often doing that because that's how they enjoy play. Does this mean OSR is not really for players who are interested in character over world?

Huge congrats to the James and the MCDM team for breaking a million! Very cool to see both Deathbringer RPG & Crows break seven figures so close together, and both OSR-adjacent systems. Crows is running much fewer big ticket "whale" options, which makes it even more impressive!

D8s will be the base for Mortal Courage: Blood, Bonds, Sacrifice. I haven't played every RPG out there, but it's exciting to develop something that feels genuinely original without being outlandishly so. (And if it has already been done, just shows it's viable!)

A really lovely surprise today. A gentleman reached out to me about an article on burnout (link below) made him realise warning signs were there and a shake-up was needed to get into a healthier headspace. Hurrah for happier GMs and their longer-lived groups! michaelghelfistudios.com/gm-burnout/
