Since it would have been Ma’s birthday this week, I’ve been looking through some of her old photos, and this one leaped out at me, of a lovely unguarded moment of her with her three sisters at their last big family reunion in Monaghan in 1961 or 1962, just before I was born.

So tonight I had my first rehearsal with the Bradford Festival Choral Society, chucked in the deep end with the basses for Haydn’s Creation. I’m glad I have a fairly good ear and can still read music relatively ok. Reminds me of how much I enjoy singing!

Currently watching Foyle’s War. Very good! Season 2 episode 4 (War Games) casts Laurence Fox as a Nazi sympathiser in wartime Britain. Such a natural! Filmed back in 2003, long before he became politically active on the far right. I wonder what qualities the casting directors saw in him 😐?
