Once upon a time the most famous person in the world -- Christ, Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson, the Pope -- was famous for being good at something. Now the two top ones are known for being an idiot and an asshole respectively. Yes, and you know who I mean too.

I’m sorry but I’m still thinking about the Secretary of Defense texting “We are currently clean on OPSEC” to a group chat that, unbeknownst to him, included the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic magazine.
All along, members of the Signal group were aware of the need for secrecy and operations security. In his text detailing aspects of the forthcoming attack on Houthi targets, Hegseth wrote to the group-which, at the time, included me we are currently clean on OPSEC:
Shane Harris contributed reporting.

the obsession with USAID and the US Institute of Peace (which studies peaceful transitions to democracy) are particularly instructive. they believe that all protesters are paid. what's the solution? dismantle the payment agencies which pay the protesters.

silicon valley is especially vulnerable to this. the idea musk (and andreeson, and thiel) had was that a blue checkmark made someone famous rather than denoting that a person was already famous. they started selling them and immediately found out that they were valueless, and were confused.

'Just say thank you': Lutnick says Canada is acting like Ukraine nationalpost.com/news/canada/...
Lutnick: Think about it. The biggest trading partner in the whole world that is vital to Canada’s existence says, “I’m unhappy,” and they respond negatively, you know why? Because for 20 years, 30 years, they’ve gotten away with it. It’s like Ukraine. They came in. You imagine coming into this country, sitting in the Oval Office, having received $300 billion in aid from U.S. and military and NATO and all the rest, and the first words out of your mouth aren’t thank you. Just say thank you. God knows, just say thank you. When the biggest client, the biggest trading partner, the most important counter-party you have, who really, really matters to you, the first thing you do is showing immeasurable respect. Say, “Thank you. I want to work it out with you. I want you to be happy.”

This is starting to read like the transcript of a dictator screaming at a crowd in another language. And the real belligerence has wiped away anything initially funny about his whacky threats.
Donald J. Trump © @realDonaldTrump
Based on Ontario, Canada, placing a 25% Tariff on "Electricity" coming into the United States, I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. This will go into effect TOMORROW MORNING, March 12th. Also, Canada must immediately drop their Anti-American Farmer Tariff of 250% to 390% on various U.S. dairy products, which has long been considered outrageous. I will shortly be declaring a National Emergency on Electricity within the threatened area. This will allow the U.S to quickly do what has to be done to alleviate this abusive threat from Canada. If other egregious, long time Tariffs are not likewise dropped by Canada, I will substantially increase, on April 2nd, the Tariffs on Cars coming into the U.S. which will, essentially, permanently shut down the automobile manufacturing business in Canada. Those cars can easily be made in the USA! Also, Canada pays very little for National Security, relying on the United States for military protection. We are subsidizing Canada to the tune of more than
200 Billion Dollars a year. WHY??? This cannot continue. The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished Fifty First State. This would make all Tariffs, and everything else, totally disappear. Canadians' taxes will be very substantially reduced, they will be more secure, militarily and otherwise, than 200 Billion Dollars a year. WHY??? This cannot continue. The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished Fifty First State. This would make all Tariffs, and everything else, totally disappear. Canadians' taxes will be very substantially reduced, they will be more secure, militarily and otherwise, than ever before, there would no longer be a Northern Border problem, and the greatest and most powerful nation in the World will be bigger, bett…

The thing about speedrunning is that most of the time it doesn't work. It takes 1000x tries to successfully speedrun a level. I once tried to speedrun editing a film, ("let's go STRAIGHT to the fine cut!!"). That was a fucking sobering experience. Now do America.

People forget how quickly things change when History happens. That the world might look completely different in two or three years is, well…, the way things normally would occur in times of crisis. What is sad is that this crisis was entirely manufactured by propaganda.

If you're wondering about the vibe in Canada right now, I just got served this ad for a brewhouse that is just a portrait of the White House being burned down. No text, just a bigass picture of the White House burning and a link directly to their menu lolol
A gorgeous portrait of the White House entirely aflame, the smoke billowing and the flames lighting up the night sky. It sparks deep patriotic ferver. This is what democracy looks like.

Also there's a white button with blue text below the portrait. The text reads "Learn more" and if clicked it takes you to the menu of a local brewhouse.
