We are pleased to announce that eXist-db was accepted into the Docker Sponsored OpenSource (DSOS) program on Monday. Our images are analyzed by Docker Scout and we managed to get to zero critical and high severity issues. :tada: Celebrate with us and star the repo hub.docker.com/r/existdb/ex...
Screenshot of the Docker image repository existdb/existdb now featuring a purple badge with "Sponsored OSS" written next to it. The dotted X logo of exist-db is also prominent on the left and at the bottom three tags are visible that were recently added: "data science", "web servers", "databases & storage" The repository has 19 stars and more than one million downloads.A screenshot of the stats of the latest tag which was last pushed 30 minutes ago. In the center column the vector of vulnerabilities reported by automated scans of Docker Scout identified one medium vulnerability per architecture specific image.

I stumbled across something interesting during a live demo in yesterday's webinar. Not having anything prepared, I tried a page in the Queens University Archives' Riel Resistance Collection. The hand was extraordinarily difficult for me, even though it was late 19th-century North American script
English-language text written in 19th-century script by one hand, using black ink for the first line (which contains a name, number, and dollar amount) with red ink for the remaining four and a half lines, apparently containing a terse narrative.

In 1876, white terrorists attacked Black members of a militia company at Hamburg, SC. They killed half a dozen Black men, executing several after their surrender. In 1916, the state erected a monument to the 1 terrorist killed in the assault, lauding his sacrifice for "Anglo-Saxon civilization."

Key 🧵that puts in context why today's DC Circuit ruling was so bad. The civil service has been (among other things) an indispensable check on executive power, ensuring political apptees adhere to laws passed by Congress. Like courts, universities, media, etc. a key guardrail of democracy. No more.

Today, representatives of the Agency's front office and DOGE instructed me to violate the due process of our employees by issuing immediate termination notices to a group of employees without due process. I refused and have provided Acting Administrator Gray with written notification of my refusal. I have recommended in that written notification that his office cease ar desist from further illegal activity.
It is and has always been my office's commitment to the workforce that we ensure all employees receive their due process in any of our actions. I will not be party to a violation of that commitment.
I was notified moments ago that I will be placed on administrative leave, effective immediately. It has been an honor working with all of you at this Agency, which i treasure.
Please be kind and considerate of my staff at hctm.eir@usaid.gov. who will be very short-staffed and pressed over the coming months. Until you hear otherwise, Kirsten Gunsolus will be acting in my absence.
If you would like to stay in touch, I can be reached a

We're entering a dark period in US #accessibility. The White House home page has a bunch of links with "aria-hidden" and "tabindex=-1". This hides the links from assistive tech like screen readers & makes them unreachable with just a keyboard. Critical #WCAG compliance errors! But who can sue?
