Here's the thing: when you abuse someone, it's in no way on the person you wronged to come to you and forgive you. It starts, only, with you stopping the abuse, going to them and begging their forgiveness and leaving it up to them whether you get it or not. It starts with the abuse ending though.

To me I think there's at least two problems: a major disconnect between political reality and what people would LIKE to see happen, which you mentioned, but also a major disconnect in what Ds ever think is politically possible and what Rs think is politically possible. I have a real hot/cold relationship with baseball but playoff baseball is great, but it's also great to see Petco Park joyous and cheering for a playoff game. Such a thirsty, starving city for a title. Overlooked as a cursed sports city so even as an erstwhile San Diegan it would be nice to see.
