So dumb. Has anyone at Adobe studied actual UI, human work flow and cognitive processes? A pop-up is the worst of UI design, only for emergencies, and you think my potential lack of understand of what i just copied justifies this intellectual intrusion?! Grasping at straws to push integrated LLMs.

This paper needs to influence HCI in a major way. Included these findings in a teacher AI literacy workshop this summer and it is one of the lasting impressions the teachers took away. They really empathized with seeing other professionals lose skill and identity and I think it shocked them.

I love #AERA reviewing for SIG-LS (are we on Bsky yet?). Sure is a fire hose of ideas, but it feels like a fertile place for new views in learning sciences. Maybe it is just the relief and glow (or eye strain) of having finished a million reviews, but excited for the conference. #learningsciences

One upside to AI slop, is you can really tell when a furniture company is also slop.

Loveable little dive bar near my office clearly made an AI generated website. It.... did not go well. Did they still, uncritically, put the AI slop website out into the world? Take a gander at the sanity (and gravity) defying images for their bev menu and judge yourself.

Congrats to LIT Lab PhD candidate Veronica Grosso who presented at the first Robotics Seminar Series at UIC Engineering on resisting stereotypes to show competence and warmth in #HRI. Did we need to buy tiny toys and treats for bunnies to test these collaborative activities? Yes, dear reader, we did

What the absolute shit is this? ACM using AI summaries instead of abstracts in search results?! So, if I understand correctly, instead of the author's own summary of the work (i.e. an abstract) we are better off with some regurgitated slop version of that summary instead? @chi.acm.org

Shell shocked at how ubiquitous turning in LLM writing is. Knew it would be a lot, but literally every paper (1-2 pages) I read today was fully authored by an LLM. I thought if I made it clear I just wanted ideas, thoughts, feeling, and didn't care about grammar or structure, it would help, but nope

Just cited this. We're finding that expert teachers are telling us they *want* automation, but end up using LLM-generated content infrequently when given the option. Seems that expert fluency is pretty powerful. This METR study really helps develop that idea to provide some nuanced context.
