Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 07/03/2026I'm having way too much fun with the new rolling ability #gamedev #godot #platformer #indiedev #screenshotsaturday 0215
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 03/03/2026Experimenting with a new ability that allows the player to roll around like a ball to gain a lot of momentum. Still needs some fine-tuning, but I think it could be fun. #gamedev #godot #platformer #indiedev 1296
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 23/02/2026First major improvement: curved ziplines. Used to be only straight lines in the original. Don't know why i didn't think of this sooner #gamedev #godot #platformer 1196
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 22/02/2026I recreated the movement of my Unity game Star Sign in Godot. Already made some small changes and improvements. Made me remember how much fun it was working on that game. I could just swing around for hours. #godot #gamedev 2122
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 06/09/2025We switched from purely 2D to this semi-3D style. This allows us to rotate the player to the look/move direction without having sprites that just suddenly flip. Also we just thought it looked really cool. #gamedev #godot #screenshotsaturday 0122
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 21/08/2025Implemented a system for weapon upgrades on level up. Gun go brrrrrrrrrrrr #gamedev #godot 182
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 17/08/2025More progress: - Railgun weapon that pierces through enemies - bullet trails - enemies give XP when destroyed - XP-Bar and current Level UI at the top #gamedev #godot 0102
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 10/08/2025Implemented a very basic system for picking up weapons and assigning them to a weapon slot #gamedev #godot 0122
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 09/08/2025The drones found me... And yes, I have not figured out yet how parallax backgrounds work #gamedev #godot 0144
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 17/04/2025Its still very primitive but I made a lot of progress with the enemy behavior, it now can: - patrol - become alert when the player is near or shots at it - chase the player - attack when in range - react to damage at certain HP thresholds - stop chasing and go back to patrolling #gamedev #godot 1201
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 08/04/2025Yes, work on the enemy behaviour is going very well. No problems at all. Everything working as intended. Nothing to see here. #gamedev #godot 1151
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 05/02/2025End-to-end connectivity in my "Fast travel" prototype is now working. You can open a gate in one level, navigate the randomly generated paths, and come out at a different, completely separate level. Next up on the to-do list: 1. Make it fun 2. Build an actual game around it #gamedev #godot 2340
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 25/01/2025Worked a little on my "fast travel" prototype. The Idea is that you enter these randomly generated dark corridors from one level and find your way to an exit gate to another level Here is what I used for the portal itself: github.com/Donitzo/godo... #gamedev #godot #ScreenshotSaturday 0285
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 01/01/2025Made an item that guides the player to a selected destination in the randomly generated maze meant for "fast travel" between levels. #gamedev #godotengine 0130
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 27/10/2024Implemented an idea I had for a while. To "fast travel" between different dimensions, the player has to find a route in these randomly generated corridors, that are sort of "between" the dimensions, by following the symbols on the floor. Also the first time that I'm using #godot for a project 2120
Joel Obrist @joelobrist.com · 20/10/2024Hello Bluesky! My name is Joel. I'm a software developer and when I find the time, I try to be a game developer. I don't have anything recent to show, but here is my first game I released a year ago! 3462
