Why does #LocalGov matter? Cross Border Interviews digs into this question and more by interviewing municipal elected folks from across Canada. Thanks Chris Brown for inviting me on to talk about my role on council and the community I’m proud to serve: www.crossborderinterviews.ca/post/854-par...

A beautiful day to officially open the restored labyrinth in Parksville Community Park. Big thanks to the volunteers who brought their vision to Council and to everyone who helped re-create this special place. A lasting gift for our community. #Parksville #Labyrinth

June 1 is #WildSalmonDay It's hard to think British Columbia without thinking Salmon! Wild salmon need cold, clean water. But when rivers and oceans warm, get polluted, or blocked, their survival is at risk. Let's protect wild salmon for now and future generations. wildsalmonday.com

What’s better? Setting up rules and procedures and then hiring people who are good at following them or Hiring people with good character, judgment, and ability to execute and giving them the freedom to deliver?

Would be great to see that percentage go up!

Thanks to all the Canadians who cast a ballot this election. Voting is important …but ideally it’s just the first step. Democracy depends on people getting involved where they live. There are many awesome organizations that do good work. Go join one!

Canada is not broken but it does require regular maintenance

Thanks to the other candidates who put their names forward to represent our riding: Brian Cameron, Thomas Gamble, Teresa Knight, Chris Markevich, Kris McNichol, and Jesse Musial

Congratulations to incoming Prime Minister Carney. Lots of important work to be done. Let’s come together, roll up our sleeves, and build a thriving Canada. 🇨🇦

The fact that Canada is not a two party country delivers better government. More diverse perspectives and less polarization.

As Canadians head to the polls, remember that we live in a representative democracy. That means that the individual candidate you vote for matters. This person will be your voice in caucus and in Parliament. Make sure you elect someone who will do your community proud. #cdnpoli

We should expect a higher level of integrity from elected representatives, even if they are on “our team”

That’s how we debate in Canada. Respectful, policy-focused, and constructive. Well done to all the party leaders! #cdnpoli 🇨🇦

Usual question for Canadian federal election debates… Why does the leader of a party that runs ZERO candidates outside of Quebec get equal time with NATIONAL party leaders???? #cdnpoli

Come visit Parksville some time. We are a fun place with lots of great people (even if the analogies aren’t always directionally accurate)

Before I was a politician I volunteered and donated to other politicians. How do you think this all works, Mo?

There are many ways to contribute depending on your abilities, time, and finances.

Joel Grenz @joelgrenz.com · 20/03/2025

Political parties are far from perfect but play an important role in our democracy. Our success as a country depends on good people getting involved with, donating to, and volunteering for all kinds of non-profit organizations, including political parties.

Attending the Federation of Canadian Municipalities meetings virtually this morning (and yesterday). #FCM serves as a vital platform for municipalities across Canada to advocate to the federal government. In these times, collaboration has never been more crucial! 💪
