I spent months (and thousands of The Narwhal's dollars) digging into who actually owns the many small companies which the Alberta Energy Regulator says aren't paying their orphan well levies or minimum cleanup quotas. Some of the names might surprise you. #ableg thenarwhal.ca/alberta-oilp...

Canadian MP Charlie Angus: I think Marco Rubio probably needs to be sent back to school.. When you arbitrarily rip up trade agreements, threaten a country, and say you’re going to break it, that’s an act of war. And Canadians have responded in kind.

US equity markets have become fundamentally broken. Since November, more trading has taken place off of stock exchanges than on them. Price discovery is suffering. This is a serious problem. First chart shows 2024 by month, second chart shows 2025 by day.

Line chart showing percentage of on-exchange versus off-exchange trading. The chart shows that off-exchange trading crossed 50% of all trading in November and continues to increase.

Wow, tech is taking it on the chin today. Nasdaq futures down 3.5% (over 750 points), led by $NVDA (-11.5%). ASML (-8%) and TSM (-10%) also plummeting. The Deepseek effect is real - LLMs are now commoditized, open source, and unlikely to be profitable. Watch out below!

When I am presented with a challenge, I try to keep in mind that there are many possible future outcomes and variables that I can't control or manage. But how I choose to face that challenge, how I choose to react to others, that will always be up to me. I choose empathy and optimism as my default.

With so many changes to the top level at the SEC and an incoming crypto friendly band of potential chairs, please keep in mind there will be a flood of new less than reputable crypto projects vying for your attention and looking to cash in on the positive momentum.
