My daughter Hypatia is now a double major in mathematics and philosophy (at Caltech), befitting her eponym. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypatia I always encouraged her that she could do absolutely whatever she wanted in intellectual matters, but ultimately she found her home as I have.

Galileo’s Paradox of Infinity—Lectures on Infinity (lecture 6)
Galileo recognized that some infinite collections can be placed into one-to-one correspondence with a proper subcollection. How are we thus to make comparisons of size with the infinite?

Suppose that A is a computably enumerable set that is undecidable. Of course every instance of n∈A is provable in PA, since we verify that the algorithm proceeded as it did.

Two radically different conceptions of the infinite—potentialism versus actualism. Disputed for millennia, then a sea change in views. Contemporary analysis adopts a modal perspective on potentialism.
