Not my dopey self thinking this was an Iced Vovo-based situation...
A plate of iced vovos: sweet shortbread topped with a stripe of pink marshmallow up each side, a stripe of jam up the middle, and the lot topped with dessicated coconut. If you're very tired and don't have your glasses on and also you're mad, it looks a very tiny bit like the raw minced meat on bread in the OP's post.

LOL when Mum was a kid her phone number (and most of the neighbours) was Hivesville 4. Now she has a smart phone, used exclusively for checking the lotto and colouring in games.

Damn, I've been trying to convince myself a melty disco-bin protein bar snaffled down in the car between errands was a perfectly adequate lunch, thankyouverymuch, and now I can't stop fantasising about a really top-shelf toastie...

Imagine living thru 45 years of Historically Interesting Times just to be laid low by the step test in the physical for a casual Aus Post warehouse job. Send donations and flowers to my thighs. They gave everything they had and died with honour.

Street Dance With Mark Zuckerberg
1
[Title panel]: STREET DANCE with MARK ZUCKERBERG

2
[Mark Zuckerberg doing a street dance tutorial. he is wearing his silly current street bling look, with the big thick Meta Glasses]

MARK:
Hi there. I'm Mark Zuckerberg.

3
Can you pivot?

4
Pivoting is the hot new street dance that allows you to be...

[Mark spins around, shouting “PIVOT!”]

5
[When he has spun round to face us he is now dressed in his original look - hoodie, jeans]

MARK:
…a 2000s tech bro…

[He spins around again, shouting “PIVOT!”]

6
Now he is dressed as he was at Trump’s inauguaration]

MARK:
A MAGA friendly fascism enabler…

[he spins again, shouting “PIVOT!”]

7
[He now looks like his weird big eyed METAVERSE AVATAR]

And whatever the fuck this was!

8
[Mark spins back to his original modern bling look, complete with glasses]

[And ASSISTANT appears stage right]

ASSISTANT:
Hey, uh, Mark?

9
ASSISTANT:
We looked at the response on socials and, uh…

Everyone in the UK is calling started calling your big glasses, uh…

 "nonce goggles”.

MARK:
Oh no!

[He spins again, “PIVOT!”]

10
[Now he is wearing the new META MUSE CHARM around his neck instead of the glasses]

MARK:

Who wants a weird Tamagotchi thing?

ASSISTANT:
Mark please stop

[ Ends]

Mallee Family Centre have a depressing interactive make choices on what you'll pay for when your incomings barely pay the rent. If you don't already have to do this every day, give it a go this #AntiPovertyWeek malleefamilycare.github.io/The-Cost-of-...
INTERACTIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

The Cost of Poverty: Impossible Choices
By doing this interactive learning experience you will learn about the realities and experiences of people living in poverty. The aim is to raise awareness and compassion while reducing stigma and judgment. As you move through the scenarios, try to approach each person’s decisions with curiosity and empathy rather than judging what they “should” do. Their choices are shaped by the resources, pressures and options available to them, and sometimes every available option carries a cost.

Exploring poverty in the Mallee and across Australia

Every day, people make decisions about food, housing, healthcare, transport and bills.

For many people experiencing poverty, these decisions are not about wants or luxuries. They are about choosing which essential need must come first.

In this experience, you will step into the lives of three people living in the Mallee region. You will make decisions based on their circumstances, resources and challenges.

There are no perfect choices.
Every decision has a consequence, and a choice that solves one problem may create another.

On World Octopus Day remember that an octopus feels pain. Its heart can be broken. All three of them. When an octopus is attacked, and squirts out ink, it writes a poem in the water, and escapes while its attacker is enraptured by the poem’s poignant cry of yearning for lost love.

The inflation problem. My cartoon in today's @theageaustralia.bsky.social and @sydmorningherald.bsky.social
A political cartoon by Megan Herbert showing a single mother, recently made homeless after defaulting on her mortgage repayments (as evidenced by visible paperwork), setting up a new home in a tent with her two young children. Surrounded by their essentials stored in storage and plastic bags, the baby crawls on the grass, his older brother heats some food over a camp stove, and his exhausted-looking mother blows up an air mattress. Watching her, the boy says, "Is this what they means when they say 'inflation is the problem,' Mum?"
