I went to Gramercy in Berhampore as usual this Saturday morning, and it was ded compared to normal due to a chill southerly and rain. C’mon people do your bit to support local business by buying boogie baked goods! I recommend a quick bike pick up then eat in bed 🥐🛌

Literally made my bed, and I laid in it 🔨🪚🛏️
A wooden bed on a deck. It has three boxes on casters underneath. It’s in a state of partial construction. The same bed now indoors and made up. It’s plywood with a striped duvet on top

I’m here for the idea that councils might get some teeth in this space. It stings that the old Pōneke Laundry Bar site is still empty because the landlord wanted to hike rent, and failing that landbanking is more desirable (for him. Ethically indefensible and highly undesirable for urban life, imho)

if everyone alive today had the same ecological footprint as we in New Zealand, the planet would use more than it could replenish (aka: resource overshoot day) in mid-April of a figurative year based on data from 2026. more data, methodology, etc: overshoot.footprintnetwork.org/newsroom/cou...
A diagram illustrating resource overshoot days in 2026. The country with the highest ecological footprint is Qatar in a figurative early February. Middling countries include Romania and Hungary. The lowest footprint is Cambodia & Honduras in November.

Renationalising British railways is so needed. The ticketing is incomprehensible, and rn on a GWR where the reserved seating system is borked so there are people sardined in on a baking hot day looking at standing for hours (luckily I’m only on for one stop and didn’t have a reservation anyway)

Laundry, Cuba Street, Wellington. Consistently great bar food including the best fries, cooked in the caravan out back. And many pints of Supercharger (pre-sale of Panhead to Lion). It hasn’t been five years yet but it left a big hole 😟 screw greedy landlords everywhere!
Laundry bar on Cuba Street, pōneke wellington. Probably during Cuba Dupa 2019. The street is crowded with happy people and the big green frontage says dry cleaners and pressers.

Someone told me the other day that Gen-Z don’t use apostrophes. Not sure if that’s true, but if so it’s to cosmically balance this kind of excess…
A caravan that is a take-away venue in Petone. It’s white and blue and says Crispy Catch in blue sans serif capital letters. Around that are the words calamari, chowder, burger’s, taco’s, chip’s and fish and chip’s (all apostrophes included)

Me (Jo) holding a very large red hard back book. The book has black lettering saying Mr Ward's Map in large capitals across the middle. Across the top it saus Victorian Wellington Street by Street, and down the side it says Elizabeth Cox (who it the author). I'm in my office room. I have red lipstick and glasses and there's a stack of red Oxo Cube boxes on the desk behind me (it's not staged! I really am just a sucker for red things!)

Capital gains tax as a ‘tax on the corner dairy’ is a massive stretch, surely that’s clear to all? I guess ‘this is a tax on the corner dairy assuming the dairy owner owns the building and decides to sell it, paying tax on a % of profit made on that sale’ doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue does it
