The tobacco parallel is uncomfortable but instructive. We didn't recognize the full scope of that harm for decades. The prevention infrastructure built in response - taxation, school-based programs, pediatric screening, regulatory guardrails - is exactly what's needed now, applied to cannabis.

We examined #NSDUH 2015-2023 among adolescents 12-17. Cannabis-only use rose while tobacco-only use and co-use fell sharply. Older teens are most affected.
