Two men who helped rescue a pair of teenage sisters from the third-floor of a burning building in Galway last week have downplayed their heroics and insist that they were just doing their best. The house fire occurred at a property in Knocknacarra last Thursday evening. jrnl.ie/7126227

Calling on the Irish government and state agencies to immediately close their X accounts. Continued use of a fascist agitator's social media site is both incompatible with democratic values and immoral.

How sad that we have only 24 TDs who see the cruelty of hare coursing jrnl.ie/7095185
jrnl.ie
Overwhelming majority of Dáil vote against ban on hare coursing
Ireland is one of only three countries in the European Union that still permits hare coursing, alongside Portugal and Spain.

Stop subsidizing fossil fuels and the renewables market will do good things for your country -just look at Uruguay
Screenshot from article quoted below text reads:
"Auctions for wind and solar projects have fostered competition, resulting in lower prices. Customers pay at least 20% less than they did before the transition, while the government has more funds available for education and public services.

Its economy has been growing at 6% to 8% annually, and its poverty rate has fallen from 30% to 8%. That is solid proof that such changes are effective.

"The key is not technology; it is institutions," Méndez Galain said. "Once the rules are fair and predictable, the system builds itself.""

This, in a nutshell, is where we’re at. All the lies, the distraction, NGO-blaming and drive towards even further deregulation is to cover the naked fact that, in Ireland, big polluters pull the strings and our politicians just nod along. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

Opinions might differ, but the science is clear: lifting the cap will mean more emissions and more harm to human health.

Turbulence ahead as opinions clash over passenger cap
The war of words over Dublin Airport's controversial passenger cap shows no sign of easing up anytime soon, amid very conflicting opinions on what should happen.

In Ireland, burning land releases substantial greenhouse gases and smoke. Half of fires are in 'Special Areas of Conservation' and much of this is presented as 'traditional management'. Rewilding can help, as can low intensity grazing with cattle, but we need to ban all burning ASAP 🔥

“A very strange and very quiet deletion from Coillte’s business plan and strategy.” In the depths of a biodiversity crisis, #Coillte has quietly folded its dedicated nature restoration division, #CoillteNature. Is this not a signal that Coillte is not committed to nature restoration?
