Maybe the reason the UK has not yet backslided completely into deranged rightwing nationalism and populism unlike our American and Brazilian cousins is because of people like Ian Hislop and programs like Have I Got News for You. It’s difficult to take the lying bastards seriously.

The image is of a four panel comic. The title reads "Poltergeist".
In the first panel we see a woman with a worried expression on her face. She says, "stuff keeps moving around my house."
In the second panel the same woman says "I'm terrified. I can't sleep."
In the third panel we see a ghost holding a candle and a pillow that reads "live laugh love". The ghost is zooming through the house.
In the fourth panel we see the same ghost hanging up a frame and thinking, "home decor is my passion".

A few voices - almost all former Brexiters - are now popping up to issue warnings. Oh you don't want that debate again, we'll fuck you up. But in fact the position of the reactionary right is as weak as its been for years and the position of progressives is shockingly robust. If not now, when?

Butterbutt. An older comic.
A four-panel comic titled "yellow-rumped warbler poem". In panel 1, a yellow-rumped warbler stands on a branch in a late autumn scene, and says "Fall is here." In panel 2, the warbler watches a brown leaf fall to the ground, and says "Winter's near." In panel 3, the warbler faces the viewer as brown leaves fall, and says "Need some cheer?" In panel 4, the warbler is showing its luminous yellow rump, and cheerfully says "See my rear."
