So far #LXQT #Fedora45 beta has been pretty fun and it’s running well on the old #macbook. I tested out #Miriway, #Niri, and #Labwc for #Wayland compositors. Im liking labwc the best so far. Adding the RPM fusion repos got me access to Broadcom-wl and wifi on the macbook.

Thanks for the feedback! I have LXQT running on the macbook with Fedora. I got LXQT to run under Wayland with labwc and kanshi at 1.5x I am still in the process of “pimping it out.” I will post screenshots when I get it close to what I want

I love my local university surplus store. For $100 I was able to score my kiddo a Ryzen 5- 5500U HP laptop with 16g ram and 256g ssd. This should allow him to play his Steam games unlike the old crusty dusty macbook pro 2013.

Sad news… the install would not take on the #macbook. #RPiOS worked well from the flashdrive but got stuck on the boot screen when running directly from the macbook. So now I am trying out #Butterbian

Earlier today I tested #RaspberryPiOS on the patato like #ebox (2017 Intel Celeron) and was able to #Minecraft running well with low settings. Now I am in the process of switching the kiddos old macbook over to RPiOS to see if I get some gains compared to running Fedora.

So far #GlaciaOS has been pretty neat. It is running well on my woefully underpowered #ebox, Intel 3965U. The default web browser, Brave, was maxing out the CPU. I switched over to Firefox with #Ublock and #Ghostrey and that dropped CPU use by 20 to 30%.
