iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Do something you love, that occupies your mind for a while. For me, that's gardening. Being immersed in nature is restorative. I hope you are OK.

I can imagine Mr Bennet as an empty armchair. I always felt that Mrs Bennet was harshly treated. Sure, she's annoying, but at least she's trying to sort out her daughters' futures. If left unmarried they would have faced grim times.

Brings to mind Animal Farm. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

There was a time when one would have thought the government had a role to play before they ever got sold here. They should be prescription only for those with genuine need.

AI is all about uncoupling responsibility from consequences. They want to own the benefits but not crimes. A human hacking Medicare would have been charged, but not AI. The creators of the tech need to be held responsible for the actions of their beasts, and there need to be serious penalties.

This is how humanity fights back

51% of adults read 0 books a year. Only 16% read daily.
Reading has declined by 43% over the last 20 years.
The decline cuts across age, gender, and race.
No wonder it seems like all the serious people have gradually disappeared.
Save your brain.
Read a book.
Be the counterculture.

Anyone still supporting Aus Labor should watch & listen to Sarah Kendzior & other's discussions of the complicit role of the Democrats in setting up the authoritarian apparatus the Trump regime uses to oppress & terrorise 👇 As Albanese, Minns etc keep turning the ratchet to the right #auspol

This morning I saw a post that said if the Cornell 7 had said “FREE PALESTINE” instead of FREE PU$$Y” they would’ve all been expelled. That is the sad truth. What an ugly world we have created for ourselves.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Oh it's amazing. I stir a teaspoon through Greek yoghurt for a tiny bit of sweetness and tang. My granddaughter tells me it also makes a great topping for icecream.

I have never noticed this much media attention on the Greens leadership before. It's clearly rattled some cages. Good!

The softly, softly, collaborative approach might have worked with a less hostile Labor government, but given how anti Greens Albo is, I'm happy with the change.

"In the eyes of the state, a 94-year-old human rights lawyer is a dangerous terrorist supporter." This is precisely where Australia is headed if the PM's Special Envoy for the Israel Lobby* Jillian Segal continues to guide domestic policy. [*not her official job title, but the reality.] #auspol

I tried Mastadon and didn't like it. Got an invite here back when there wasn't much happening, and was tempted to go to Threads but couldn't do it. Mind you, I'm still on the dreaded Book of Faces to stay connected to family so Zuck has me anyway.

So if they keep overturning suspensions and just fining him he keeps being exemplary! Now I understand. 🙃

Hasn't he been fined for this behaviour before, though? What does exemplary mean?

Joy @jjsm.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

It's Barry Hall all over again. That's when I went off AFL. They keep going on about Neale's exemplary record, but he's been found guilty of gut punches before and just keeps getting away with fines. Not a good look for the AFL in my view.

I just ran the image through a plant identifier app and it tells me it's a hippeastrum. Does it have long strappy leaves? It's a lovely variety. I have bog standard orange hippeastrums, also from my Mum's garden, but they aren't flowering yet.

Yeah, we did that too, but our mortgage wasn't anywhere near what is needed to buy a house today, allowing for inflation. We sold both our parents' modest properties fairly recently to first home buyers for eye watering amounts. We had it easy in comparison.

We've done this twice in the last 3 years for both our mothers. We donated as much as we were able, tossed some in a skip, and took a few things home to sort through slowly. Still a work in progress. We are mindful to keep doing regular clean outs so we don't leave too much for our kids to sort.
