Every year I do a rewatch of Noroi. It's so creepy, man. I love the mood of the film, quick, creeping dread that builds and builds and builds. It collects all these seemingly random pieces and slowly puts them together in front of you. A+ movie.

Hugely in favor of things like this because it makes blacklisting anybody involved so much easier.

Will always remember my college art prof who taught life drawing. He'd blown part of his dominant hand off with a shotgun years before, and had his thumb replaced with his big toe. The man could draw a damn-near photorealistic sketch of anything with that hand and a lump of charcoal in no time.

Tim Curry in the same week as Dolly Parton is fucked up, man. I first recall seeing Tim in Clue, and then any time after that I'd get super stoked to see him, or hear his incredible voice work. This guy was in a lot of my childhood films, shows, and games. What a legend.

Rest in Peace, Dolly. Gutted at her loss, but will always be thankful that she graced us with her art, her compassion, and her joy.

To my fellow writers procrastinating for whatever reason, go do the thing you were born to do. I believe in you. Yes, you, writer of anthropomorphized household appliance erotica. And you, AO3 scribe. You too, first-timer, with the blank page before you. But not you, AI prompt chud. You are a dork.

DnD is okay. I like Critical Role! But there are a ton of cool, weird options out there. Lancer, Mork Borg, Candela Obscura, and Shrines (shout out to @jamespianka.bsky.social ). TTRPGs have such a wide scope that it seems a shame to limit yourself to any one of them.

Just got a really sincere and heart-warming message from a reader and it made my week. So hey, if you're reading this, and there's an indie author out there you like, you should 100% message them and tell them you like their stuff. Guaranteed to make them happy, I swear.

I do not use AI in any of my writing; not in drafting, plotting, world-building, or the prose itself. Every word is mine. I hire a human cover artist. I have no interest in stories fobbed off on machines because the slop merchants were too lazy to do something themselves.

Singaporean artist Leia Ham reimagined LotR as Tale of the Middle Kingdom, since Chinese name for China (Zhōngguó) means "The Middle Kingdom." Her concept art includes the Fellowship, armors, buildings like Bag End, props like Aragorn's banner and Fellowship brooches, and more. #TolkienTrewsday

An illustration of the Fellowship, reimagined with Chinese-style period outfits.

An illustration of armors of Gondor, Rohan, and Rivendell Elves, reimagined using different periods of Chinese armors as concepts. On the top right are three side profiles of Rohan man, Gondorian, and Elf with different Chinese hairstyles. On the bottom right is Aragorn's banner redrawn with Chinese influence.

A concept art of Bag End reimagined as Chinese court houses, with tall stone gates, round wooden doors, curved roofs, and open courtyard, nestled in a hill.

A concept art of Rivendell in the style of Chinese painting. Next to it are several props drawn in Chinese style such as Fellowship brooch based on gingko leaves, lembas in the shape of mooncake, Elfstone as round jade, Galadriel's phial in a green jade bottle, and shards of Narsil.

Post something that still traumatizes you. Maybe not this specific book, but one of these, had a story about a kid accidentally getting his parents killed, and then heavily implied he was now in Hell, in a loop of reliving their deaths and his own for eternity. This was for grade-schoolers.

A book titled "Super Scary Stories for Sleepover" by Q.L. Pearce, and illustrated by Dwight Been. The cover shows a mummy reaching forward.

Seeing people get elitist about LitRPG/whatever is so weird to me, especially these days. I’m just happy to see human beings make art, even I don’t jive with it. Pregnant Sonic/Magneto slash fic? That’s fucking weird, but you do you, boo. Express your weird desires as only living souls can.

Got this cool wand and stand in my office now, which is pretty neat.

A wand resting on a wooden stand on a bookshelf. The wand is made of black wood and wound with gold wire, while the handle is made of dark red stone orbs and topped with a brass ornament. The want is surrounded by candles in jars.
