Hugely in favor of things like this because it makes blacklisting anybody involved so much easier.

JayAck @jjackerknecht.com · 08/09/2026

The shotgun incident was a hunting accident, by the way. Practice gun safety kiddos. Anyway, the prof was really cool, liked to encourage everybody to draw regardless of whatever they thought was holding them back.

Will always remember my college art prof who taught life drawing. He'd blown part of his dominant hand off with a shotgun years before, and had his thumb replaced with his big toe. The man could draw a damn-near photorealistic sketch of anything with that hand and a lump of charcoal in no time.

That's so cool! Those covers look outstanding too!

Damn, that cover rules.

Can I ask why? I liked the back rooms and didn’t have a problem with the main entity but it didn’t really stick out as particularly amazing either. It was still good though!

Jean Jacket is really incredible. Angelic and terrifying and beautiful. I can get behind all of these, but Captain Clark is just okay IMO. I really enjoyed the Backrooms, and think what CC means/represents is great, and his design is solid, just not outstanding.

I'm 100% not a car guy either but 50s-type cars really do it for me.

I'd like to nominate @magicariot.com and @sahuntbooks.com for any Wachowski-related projects that require a trans lady creator.

I'm so tired man. RIP Tim.

Tim Curry in the same week as Dolly Parton is fucked up, man. I first recall seeing Tim in Clue, and then any time after that I'd get super stoked to see him, or hear his incredible voice work. This guy was in a lot of my childhood films, shows, and games. What a legend.

Rest in Peace, Dolly. Gutted at her loss, but will always be thankful that she graced us with her art, her compassion, and her joy.

To my fellow writers procrastinating for whatever reason, go do the thing you were born to do. I believe in you. Yes, you, writer of anthropomorphized household appliance erotica. And you, AO3 scribe. You too, first-timer, with the blank page before you. But not you, AI prompt chud. You are a dork.

DnD is okay. I like Critical Role! But there are a ton of cool, weird options out there. Lancer, Mork Borg, Candela Obscura, and Shrines (shout out to @jamespianka.bsky.social ). TTRPGs have such a wide scope that it seems a shame to limit yourself to any one of them.

I literally went "YES!" when I saw the news. Supper happy for him, and hopeful for the production.

The level of kinship I feel for FromSoft NPCs is unmatched, especially given how little dialogue they usually have.

JayAck @jjackerknecht.com · 21/08/2026

Any stories that scratch the old-school isekai itch of stuff like "Vision of Escaflowne" or "Twelve Kingdoms"? Unique (e.g. non medieval European) High fantasy worlds with political turmoil, deep characters, and struggles toward self-actualization?

I wanna play Enshrouded again so bad but the 1.0 is dropping in October so I'm forcing myself to wait.

Well, the first half of the series takes place on Earth (books 1-3), but the latter half (books 4-6, though 6 isn't out yet) is all about visiting aliens worlds. I dunno if that counts, but there's still alien empires, cosmic knights, and big space battles and stuff like that. Also LitRPG.

A book titled "Homicidal Aliens are Invading and All I Got is This Stat Menu" by J.J. Ackerknecht. The cover shows a muscular, red-headed woman doing battle with a black-armored serpentine monster against a bright red background.

Still waiting on that Dionea House film.

JayAck @jjackerknecht.com · 13/08/2026

This is basically just one of the "Trouble Brewing" gags from "The Far Side" and I love it.

Animorphs is a wild series and buying it doesn’t support TERF bullshit.

Literally for the life of me I cannot understand these people going out of their way to trash genres, but also the people that read and write them. Also I wish I'd kept some of my old BradyGames guides.

There's also "Stray Cat Strut" By RavensDagger and "Azarinth Healer" by Rhaegar both feature their primary femalke characters in sapphic relationships, "The City that Would Eat the World," by John Bierce has a trans FMC. There isn't a ton of gay male rep in the genre, but it's growing.

111

Ye-up. Bisexual FMC fights aliens with a slowburn sapphic romance, also has a couple trans and gay side-characters (disclaimer: I am the author). Also slightly similar vibe to CR with the off-kilter found family core group that regularly engages in violence and swearing:

Congratulations! That's excellent!

Is it just the end of the Morningstar or does this include the handle as well?

Just got a really sincere and heart-warming message from a reader and it made my week. So hey, if you're reading this, and there's an indie author out there you like, you should 100% message them and tell them you like their stuff. Guaranteed to make them happy, I swear.

I really enjoyed Nolan's The Odyssey, but man... I kinda wish Scylla had been a LOT weirder.

JayAck @jjackerknecht.com · 31/07/2026

I reserve a small section of my heart for hating on shitheels and chuds, but otherwise yes.
