Yes in theory the phone brand shouldn't matter much, but big brand may be even better because I don't think they make cases with inbuilt 17 mm adapters! Otherwise you're forced to use e.g. clip-on mounts (this probe is too heavy for that imho)

Yeah the last couple of years have been booming. The probe in question is a 17mm mount by Neewer (kinda like the famous Laowa probes). Getting that mounted is a bit of chore, but a necessity to get close to the bugs without frightening them or casting shadows.

I came across on my hard drive while looking for other things. I segmented the nervous system and part of the digestive system in this Atta vollenweideri head, then apparently I animated it and forgot it existed... This was based on CT data graciously provided by the Labonte lab.

To give a bit of a hint: I‘m working on standardization of 3d anatomy modeling, complex 4d interaction and changing the dynamic of visualization from serving to participating and maybe even leading in scientific research. And I so love what I am doing now. I almost wish I started earlier

De grootste gevleugelde exemplaren zijn "prinsesjes" Ze vliegen uit om te paren en gooien daarna de vleugels af en zoeken een veilig plekje om koningin te worden. Kleinere (ongeveer grootte van werksters) met vleugels zijn de mannetjes. Die gaan dood na de daad.

Het is soms een rommeltje, maar in het 🐜Mierenreservaat🐜 doen de satermieren (Formica exsecta) het supergoed. Kost érg veel inspanning, maar ze verspreiden nu flink in het gebied dat we vrij maken*. Bij afsluitende borrel ook nog een kerkuil die naast ons kwam zitten, gezellig! #KNNV #Entomologie
