It's fun! I've not owned anything this small since my Micra and it's only about 250kg heavier. The only bad part so far is that there's very little sound deadening. I think some people have retro-fitted it.

Bambuuuuu. I love mine, I can spend time doing the model and not messing around with the printer. Press "print" and "It Just Works".

I've taken the lenses out while I disassemble it, because holy heck these are worth a bit.

Is this feasible in the boot of a Honda Civic?

Whoops, I bought some junk at auction and then checked the specs, and it's 61kg... They'll be able to get it in my car at the warehouse but I might have to strip it down while in the boot of the car at home. (It's a "Cellavista 3" cell imaging system).

Thankfully (sort of) when I was looking for a house it was the depth of the financial crash and there was very little on the market, so I only looked at 2 or 3 houses before mine came up. There were 4 in the street being sold at once and I think I only spent 5 minutes in the house!

Using an agent to buy is quite rare here, they are available but usually used for high end stuff. If you are in a chain then your selling agent will work with the others to keep things going though (because if the chain collapses that lose their fee!).

In another interview the bookseller was pleased because it was stuff which had been sat in storage for decades and would have been pulped eventually, and they paid good money.

Even the article says that what we'd think of as "rare" books are not being bought and destroyed, it's books with an ISBN barcode.

It's a LOT more expensive though, the structures need to be quite substantial compared to an array of panels in a field. Also the grid locally needs to be able to take the power generated, which might need (expensive) upgrades.

The heights are usually dependent on the profile of the ground and the angles needed to prevent shading, also they need to be up away from any dust and dirt, and at height they can be inspected and maintained.

I can't really tell much difference from the Pixel 8 really. I think the camera is marginally worse in lower light.

Got a Pixel 10a. Not as sexy as the iPhone Air, but the UI/UX is consistent, and it's 1/3rd the price so I won't be worried about dropping it!

A photo from yesterday's #LondonFurs of @jingo.uk in his truly unique fursuit -- a multifaceted, mirrored marvel that turns him into a 'Disco-ball panther'! This eye-catching costume becomes even more spectacular in bright summer sunlight -- the panther's mirrored facets are literally dazzling!

I'm great at losing stuff. I lost my rail smart card thing for weeks. I searched the house completely, kept looking in the same places over and over, and then one time put on a hoody and it was in the pocket, the last place I had put it. I just hadn't put my hand in properly when looking...

Pressing the return/enter button did nothing, but it seemed to add a letter to the password box? I kept pressing it to see what happened, and then the screen went blank and the reset process commenced.

Even wiping the iPhone to return it frustrated me 🤣 You need to enter your iCloud password to confirm the wipe. There's no option to view the password after entering it, and no button to continue, just a "return" button on the keyboard.

Come to the LF meet on Saturday. I might be a mirrored cat.

Oh yes that one! Just selecting or editing text was a pain. The caret movement when dragging it is just... wrong. The predictive text is worse, and no comma or full stop on the main keyboard panel. I was going to install the Google Keyboard but why bother when I can just run Android.

This was the best one. Neither button did anything, and I had to find out how to do a hard power-off. All I was trying to do was uninstall the app!

Might return this. The opposite of what I expected, iOS is too inconsistent in how it operates. Going "back" is different in every app, switching apps is fiddlier than Android, and at times I'm left with something on screen with no idea how to dismiss it.

Hmm I’ve both using Google Keep (for all sorts of things), although I’ve been fairly good at deleting stuff I know I’ll never do. I heard about Obsidian recently which looks interesting.

Oh yes, I suggested OPNsense but for off the shelf stuff then I've used the Cloud Gateway Ultra and it's pretty nice, it's the first thing I'd choose if not running a DIY router. I'm going to get one for the office to replace an old Sonicwall.

Sophos XG330, running OPNsense. Chosen because it's compact, cheap, low power reliable. I use OPNsense because you can customise it to heck, eg. run Wireguard to VPN in from Android. For WiFi I use UniFi access points.

Early review from a first time attendee: #emfcamp is truly excellent for makers, crafters, tinkerers, nerds, misfits and weirdos. And their families, where applicable. There's a very cool big mix of all sorts of people.
