The level of trauma, as a NYer, that the annual 9/11 -thing- causes me is hard to describe. A thing happened; it was horrific; and now for 25 years I’ve listened to people lie about my city, my friends, and the whole goddamn world because of it. This year feels more egregious than most.

Everyone has a favorite Tim Curry movie, and mine is Times Square. A cult movie that deserves a bigger cult. Show up for Tim Curry as a manipulative rock DJ greek chorus, stay for docu-drama 1979 NYC and Robin Johnson giving maybe the best teen actor performance ever.

The vinyl soundtrack and Kino Lorber bluray edition of Alan Moyle's 1980 film Times Square. Both covers show the same image (in different color grading and style) of two teenage girls in hip outfits. Tim Curry appears on a giant button on Robin Johnson's leather jacket.
