We work with unhoused people and frequently encounter people discharged from the hospital with no place to lay down and recuperate. A doc can prescribe a medication that costs $50k for a course of treatment, but can't get Medicaid to pay for a motel room. Berkeley CA.

I appreciate my friends offering me "Gift Articles," but they aren't free if the NYT requires an email address. The outlets that collect them sell them for pennies or up to a few dollars each - even more if they are connected to a consumer deciding on a product.

I asked an AI. 1 billion years: death of complex life when the sun expands and evaporates the oceans. Extremophile bacteria may survive until 2.5-4 billion years when the crust melts. The planet may survive the further growth of the sun in 5-7.5 BY, although perhaps in a different orbit.

Hi! My friends and I run a non-profit that helps poor people in Albany, CA and Berkeley. I agree about leaving the camera at home. If people are dependent on us for food, showers, or laundry I don't think it would be fair to ask them for photo releases. Here's a chaos picture I took.

I was cosigner on a local renter protection measure in 2024. The National Assoc' of Realtors sent dishonest attack ads to every Albany CA address for every day of the cycle, as well as TV and internet ads. We were outspent roughly 100 to 1 and lost 55% to 45%. We need better voters!

With Bay Area "low Income" including people with two kids and a family income over $100k, unless a project includes "very-low-income" it won't mean much. Homeless people get waved around to justify projects they won't be able to get near.
