You perhaps don't need to be a lawyer to find this judgment interesting. German HE bomb dropped in a field in 1942. University halls built on field in 2012. Army detonates bomb in 2021. Insurers rely on war damage exclusion. What caused the damage? bailii.org/ew/cases/EWC...

More fun from the London Skinners' accounts: a regular expense is for the "carying away" of shit from latrines. Here in 1507 it cost 21 s 4d (16 "tonnes," 16d per tonne [~4 cu. m]). A man was paid 12d to "wache and to ouer see theym by ii nyghts"; & a new cover for the seat in the privy was 12d.
