I love Leava.xyz getting love on r/ParkSlope. ❤️

I decided to build it. It's currently totally anonymous (bi-directionally) with no user accounts. Owner mints QR codes, prints them out an sticks them in their window (or on their bike, boat, or other of their things that sit in public spaces). Sender scans QR code and sends message. </scene>

I'm planning on bringing my in-house expert (my Classics major post-grad son) to my screening of The Odyssey so he can dumb it down for me afterwards.

Damn, I wonder how fast it can go outside.

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 01/07/2026

Guys, it had a hell of a run but it's time to put the brand out to pasture.

Tried to make it more obvious that those were streaming links in the flyout. The more people scrobble to ListenBrainz and the more @para.chord users, the more external links that show up. Because your music community should be bigger than your music service silo.

Some firsts today: played one on my songs live, with a full band, at a real venue, with people in the audience (at a local Guitarmaggedon). It definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I'm happy I did it. I may even do it again some time.

I've been busy with a bunch of other stuff lately, but this one is finally starting to come together. I feel like I'm in a bit of a Big '80s guitar thing right now, but maybe you all hear something different? 🔊

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 22/05/2026

I was skeptical, but now I'm in deep.

Nothing quite like getting a 4GB OS update to get 8 new emoji.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 11/05/2026

Worked on a new feature today and educated myself that I've been scrobbling listening data for 20 years now. Happy anniversary to me.

Achordion album pages now display critical response summaries - with links to editorial album reviews as well as user reviews (via new CritiqueBrainz integration). Power to the people.🫧📌

Dammit, I just relic'ed my Taylor. 😢

My 6 hour drive yesterday motivated me to wake up early and add Android Auto support to Parachord this morning. 🙌

Me, on Thursday: "maybe I'll just start scaffolding out the UI for a future Parachord Android app before I leave for vacation on Monday" Me, on Sunday: "well damn, I'm pretty much done"

Two months ago tomorrow I released my first full-length album. Much love to everyone that has given it a spin. 😘

... and so it begins. Parachord Android

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 06/03/2026

I'm so glad to see @plamere.bsky.social rebuilding SmarterPlaylists and even happier to see when my Parachord browser extension just magically works in the type of scenarios I build it for. ☺️

In addition to dark mode, next week I will ship concert recommendations and artist dates with multiple event plug-in providers. Also, a tiny thing I've wanted for a long time - just a little indicator to show if the artist you are currently listening to has an upcoming show near you.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 02/03/2026

I needed to clean up some UI inconsistencies, so Dark Mode is coming sooner than later.

If you are wondering where all of the snow in Brooklyn goes, I found. It apparently gets trucked and dumped in two square blocks down by the IKEA.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 27/02/2026

I was pretty productive today. I fixed a lot of Parachord bugs, improved the Friend feed, added customizable embeds on the smartlink pages and pushed an update. (No concert dates in this one, but hopefully soon.) Time to put down the laptop and pick up a guitar and a beer. 🍻

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 27/02/2026

Hey, unsurprisingly ChatGPT is not a trustworthy source of concert dates given it is showing I'm playing in LA in a couple of months. 😝

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 26/02/2026

This is the first time AI made me LOL.

100

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 24/02/2026

My sister's friend had questions. Maybe you have the same ones, so here you go. 🤪

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 24/02/2026

Now that I seem to have sorted most people's Apple Music issues in Parachord, I've got a few new features coming: 1. New Releases (from artists you like) 2. Universal album and playlist links (go.parachord.com/afbc6934) 3. Support for Apple Music lossless/high-res streams (sorry, no Atmos)

120

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 23/02/2026

I haven't tried it, but in theory it is already supported.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 23/02/2026

Oh this is the best news I've had in a week....

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 23/02/2026

She's kind of little for a Golden Retriever (still 75lbs tho) - but it's still deep in Brooklyn.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 23/02/2026

While getting the Apple Music plugin working for others continues to be a pain in the ass, I'm being soothed a bit by Airplay just enabling experiences without any work from me.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 23/02/2026

Really this is all I have wanted out of AI for the last 10 years.

000

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 21/02/2026

For users of Parachord AI plugins, I've added listening suggestions to the Home page - along with the reasoning behind each. For ListenBrainz plugin users (which I highly recommend to all), I'm now also pulling in both Weekly Jam and Weekly Exploration playlists. Both coming in the next update.

010

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 14/02/2026

Because I'm easily distracted I decided to see if I (aka Claude) could get my abandoned parking app from last year working. I've got good news, I'm now getting accurate parking regulation data for all of the places I may have parked. Next: fix the notifications to tell me when I need to move it.

020

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 14/02/2026

Oh, it's so nice when you're not sure if something is going to work and then it just does.

100

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 10/02/2026

Proof of concept: Parachord pulling out all music links (from a half-dozen different services) that hit your Bluesky feed and resolving them from where you listen to music - not where the person posting it listens. Deep links to the posts for context & conversation. (cc @pfrazee.com might like)

Getting this working ate up half of my Sunday, but 🙌.

020

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 30/01/2026

So... it's been a busy 2 weeks but I accomplished more than I thought would be possible. Is it too early to start drinking?

100

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 28/01/2026

Here's what I've gotten done this morning... trying to get to the point where some other folks can try it (and find all the bugs) next week.

010

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 28/01/2026

👋 I don't supposed Musicbrainz would ever want to support user-submitted bios? No good sources for small artists that isn't squirreled away behind each [streaming service] for Artists walls.

110

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 26/01/2026

Also got this done today...

J Herskowitz @jherskowitz.com · 24/01/2026

I think ChatGPT is flittering with me.
