I’m also working on an essay about AS from a learning sciences angle, particularly how the school measures attention and treats those measures as evidence of learning or "waste." I’m looking forward to reading Seybold's piece tomorrow; the wider EdTech picture and AI angles are very relevant.

“Anti-patterns were like this AI system that decided whether or not you were doing good enough. It saw that your eyes were moving away from the screen, you’ll get flagged for those. You did not want to get an anti-pattern. It was creepy.”

I just heard someone talking about working through people hesitant to adopt new technology say “we need to view resistance as insight worth understanding, not ask what’s wrong with them.” YES. FUCK YES. I wish this were more widely understood in the current AI discourse.

Thank you to everyone who gave and shared Ludo's wish list! He got lots of healthy food and treats. We appreciate your generosity! Left on the list are everyday necessities like kitty litter and dental chew toys. Every bit of kindness helps us during this time. <3 www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

I cannot smile on cue. The best I can do is a sincere wry expression. I have photographic evidence that I have inherited this trait because I have pics of at least two other generations of wry guys on dad's side. Resting wry face but, no that is our smile, actually.

There is a meme on the Twitter timeline where people list jobs they've held, and so many are U-shaped, with entry level high school jobs, through post-college high level jobs, then back to low status/low autonomy jobs, because that's all there is, and I am in the same boat, but I don't want to play.
