Reading the fine print (“allowing … to issue citations for drivers who park in a bike lane longer than 10 minutes”) this doesn’t seem like a “BIKE WIN” for bike lane users; it’s formalizing and legalizing the “I’ll just be a minute” free pass for bike lane parking that’s a scourge on us all. Nope. 👎

Today, I discovered that my two year old contribution is partially implemented in MySQL for more than a year. Oracle did that silently, without closing my report, and without mentioning it in the release notes. I have mixed feelings about this. bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=1...

There is a new quality problem in Oracle/MySQL. In addition to not fixing bugs in all supported versions (a problem I mentioned many times in the past), bugs are now fixed but not mentioned in the Release Notes. I have two examples of this. 1 of 3

The security theater of @ferries.wsdot.wa.gov announcements warning everyone to not leave a backpack or luggage unattended (oh no!!) while a hundred people just drove an entire car or truck on here and left it unattended amuses me greatly. 🤷‍♂️

Last week, I published two #MySQL Replication blog posts: Understanding "fatal error 1236", and GTID Crash Safety improvement in 8.0.17. Both subjects lack clear documentation, hence the interest of blogging about them. Link to the 2nd post in the 1st. jfg-mysql.blogspot.com/2026/08/unde...

Oracle/MySQL did it again: they fixed a bug in the most recent version (26.7.0) but not in all supported versions (8.4.11 and 9.7.2). See below bug report for detail. bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=1...

There is no such thing as too little parking. There are too many cars. But y’all don’t want to hear that because it puts the responsibility on YOU to do something about it. 🤷‍♂️

If Canada becomes part of the US, like the orange-hair bozo is repeating ad nauseam, ex-Canadians living abroad will have to pay taxes to Washington (currently not paying to Ottawa) and thick the box "US Citizen" in bank forms and more, which complicates everything ! #NotAGoodDeal
