If you aren't from that area, take a gander over the Kancamagus Highway. The views are stunning. It also features one hell of a hairpin turn.

The greatest self-arrest in mountaineering history occurred when a K2 expedition tried to save the life of Art Gilkey. Empathy is beautiful and inspirational. Here's a nice read about it: americanalpineclub.org/news/2022/1/...

I just ran the text with Pangram. Here's what it found:
A screenshot from the Pangram dashboard that shows the result of the AI detection. It reads 100%. Confidence is limited due to the short text.

Also, writers should avoid conflating current "AI" with science fiction. This is not HAL from 2001. This is not the Terminator or Skynet. It's the Magic 8 Ball using probability and statistics to determine its answer.

Does Burbank still have a gajillion theaters in it? I lived in Glendale from 1999-2004 and I loved going to Burbank to catch a movie. In Connecticut, where I live, most of the theaters are gone now although we have a fun drive-in not too far away.

The most shocking part of this article is that the AMC 16 is still open. I lost my wallet in that theater in 1999.

Rogue AI didn’t breach Hugging Face, human decisions did
At the core of the Hugging Face hacking incident were a series of human choices that traded security for speed.

if you aren’t opposed to paying for search, check out kagi.com. its basically pre-enshitified google with lots of customization options for your search results, such as filtering domains like facebook or fox news.

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?
It's a meme from Return of the King.

In the first panel, Pippin stares at Gandalf and says, "Gandalf, why is he called the witch-king?"

The second panel shows Gandalf and it reads, "Because he weighs the same as a duck."

It was nice to see your relatives at the gate, but god damn, I remember all the soliciters going to all the travelers, asking for money. And the markerers selling crap from their fold-out tables in front of the gate. It was such a relief to see them gone after 9/11.

Every time I hear that dolt's name, I shake my head that Meidas Touch bought his schtick and made podcasts with him. They basically laundered his reputation. It still blows me away that they did that.

I'm told that in the future, this is peak fitness. #elon #musk #wanker
Elon Musk, a complete knob, stands on the road staring at a normal person. Musk is somewhat overweight in his torso while wearing weird skinny jeans. He looks on with a milky, pasty expression that only the inbred royalty of England have managed to achieve.

I mean, what the fuck is this? The man has somehow achieved a pot belly but in his chest, and he looks like he's wearing a pants corset.

If Google is changing map names over the weakest of political reasons, you should not trust them and use a different service. Honestly, you should consider dropping Google wherever you can. It's a terrible company run by terrible people.

Pod Save America is chasing 2016 vibes by hiring Nate Silver. It seems like a hail mary for an increasingly out-of-touch organization that now caters to right-learning moderate Democrats versus their original leftwing audience. They should just merge with the Bulwark and call it a day.

When I had Comcast, the service often failed with my own modem. It was nightmarish. I ended up going with the leased modem since it actually worked. It was my only choice for fifteen years until fiber finally arrived. I dropped Comcast like a dead body the first chance I could.
