Finished this up for my little nephew. He was born in the early spring, so I chose subjects more common during that time where he lives. Recognize any? #watercolor #nature #art #pnw
Watercolor painting of the letter "J" surrounded by flora and fauna of eastern Washington in spring. The inside of the letter is filled with a blue sky and puffy clouds.
The subjects, from top to bottom, include: Anise Swallowtail, Ponderosa Pine, Rocky Mountain Elk, Silvery Blue, Western Tanager, Balsamroot, Morel, and Glacier Lily.Closeup of the elk portion of the paintingCloseup of the birds and flowers in the painting.

Using circular paper helps my mind unstick from creating "perfect" art. A mister plus a water brush does the job of getting colors down, then just playing. #watercolor #abstract #art
An abstract watercolor painting done on circle-shaped paper, with some recognizable forms of trees. The lighter pigments blend softly in the background, while bolder, clear forms come forward. The shapes and lines echo the circle shape, with colors in the center beginning white and spread from gold to red to blue to indigo.

Break in rainy weather = bike ride. The wind was warm and smelled like spring. #gravelriding #pnw #outdoors
A dark-yellow Canyon gravel bike leans against a chain link barrier on a bridge. Behind the barrier are the tops of evergreen trees and one tall deciduous tree (maple?), bare of leaves. Trailscape with tall, yoong trees leaning in towards the trail. The forest floor is full of brown leaves, and the trees are densely planted and similar diameter and species, suggesting it was replanted some time ago.

A 2-centimeter section of a twig with at least 5 types of lichen and a few tufts of moss growing together. Two types of light, leafy green lichens and deep green moss are on top, splotches of bright yellow candleflame lichen are interspersed throughout, and a lovely patch of several rim disc lichen spots with gray centers and white rims. Some light green oak moss antlers hang from the bottom of the stick.
