The worst Ebola outbreak in the world is ongoing in the DRC and you’re not being informed about it in part because the reason it is spiralling is US politics. At least one person who was suffering from the disease crossed into Uganda by road and then flew from Kampala to Nairobi where he died.

Nobody has less institutional self-respect than the American journalism industry. Hundreds of journalists killed in Gaza, dozens of US and European journalists beaten and assaulted and detained and deported by Israel in the West Bank, and nothing really in the way of a response. Pathetic.

A sad end to a sad season last night. Not sure why anyone expected we’d get better results out of Chris DeMarco than we got out of Sandy Brondello. At least we finished ahead of Indiana.

Hiring US-to-China Oil Tanker Costs More Than Launching a Space Rocket
For a sign of just how extraordinary oil shipping costs have become, consider this: It’s now more expensive to hire a tanker from the US to China than to launch a rocket into space.

As an undergrad, Columbia/Barnard Hillel was my Jewish home on campus, and integral to my Jewish journey beyond Orthodoxy. Watching it host a “move to Jerusalem” event WITH THE JERUSALEM MUNICIPALITY - as that same government demolishes Palestinian homes, is so deeply disturbing and unacceptable.

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

Adonai is plural. Elohim is plural. Yet there is only One. The Infinite is multiple *and* singular. We are made in its/their image. We each contain multitudes. We each only exist as constituents of multitudes. Those multitudes compose singularities. It’s singular and plural all the way down.

Antisemitic conspiracy theory acts as an ideological binding agent cohering other bigotries (see “great replacement”) and a key conceptual framework for entrenching anti-Bkack racial capitalism. As such, Jews are far from the only population who stand to benefit from efforts to combat antisemitism.

Not the least bit surprising but still extremely grim to read. time.com/article/2026...
Since returning to office, Trump has marveled at AI’s capabilities. He is increasingly in thrall to the tech executives courting him. In December 2025, Elon Musk returned to the Oval Office for a clandestine meeting. Trump spent hours asking Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, questions about his presidency and legacy, according to an official present. At the time, Trump was ordering missile strikes against Venezuelan boats he alleged were smuggling drugs into the U.S. He asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Maduro. According to the official present, the chatbot responded that Maduro was a repressive and deeply unpopular dictator and that many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall. After Trump ordered the mission to seize Maduro, the following month, celebrations broke out in the streets. Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

According to the far right — with at least tacit and sometimes even vocal cooperation from the center left — Judaism doesn’t include Antizionist Jews, but does include Zionist Christians. Needless to say, this is flagrantly antisemitic and constitutes a substantial danger to Jews of all sorts.

There is exactly one large, well funded organization in NYC that makes me feel unsafe specifically as a Jewish person, and it’s the ADL
•@NYCMayor Mamdani's antisemitism strategy finally landed and only confirms what we already knew: this mayor does not treat the hate facing Jewish New Yorkers as an emergency and refuses to acknowledge the different shapes it takes. Since he took office 271 days ago, ADL has recorded hundreds of antisemitic incidents in NYC, nearly 40% of which were related to Israel.
After throwing out the IHRA definition on his first day in office, nine months later, his signature strategy still refuses to replace it with any working definition of antisemitism. He has looked the other way as flags glorifying terror groups have been flown outside synagogues, a deliberate act meant to intimidate families walking in to pray, and as crowds gathered outside houses of worship voicing support for the same groups. At the same time, he continues prioritizing his anti-Israel agenda over the basic promises he made to Jewish New Yorkers.
