This is apparently a reference to Themistocles, who played a critical role in the defeat of Xerxes.

A skeet of mine from May: "Our entire economy is being artificially propped up by astrology for men: AI, crypto, sports betting, and prediction markets. It's an economy shaped entirely by male insecurity and lack of impulse control, and we'll all pay the price."

Socrates’ position that literacy ruins human intellect and substitutes true knowledge with superficial understanding is being validated and magnified by large language models.

Imagine being the artless loser who designed that carpet. And an equally tasteless team of people selected it and approved it for installation.

The corridor of circuit boards and the bottle of water floating around on a “frozen” space ship were my two favorite things about rewatching this. The art design is bonkers.

I just got the teapot error message for the first time in my life and was very confused. It was missing the 418 error code so I assumed it was some sort of error message, but had no idea.

Panel 2:

Ah, I thought you were sticking with 2026 release dates. I was gonna say, I had fun watching the Bollywood Alpha, but that would be quite the hot take for top three! If we’re allowing 2025 films that got US distribution in 2026, The Furious would in my top three.

Works by German artist Elfriede Stegemeyer, 1930s, who was associated with the Cologne Progressives and dada movement, known for her photographic experimentation (photograms, montage, etc). Much of her early work was lost during an Allied bombing in 1941.
Black and white photo of a foggy, rainy window with a woman's face superimposed so that her eyes appear to be dripping streaks of tears.Black and white photogram with a spiral form, a glass cup, and a few clear rectangular forms all posing at different angles against a gray background.Black and white photo of a hand wearing a netted white glove, covered by the dark shadow of another hand, fingers spread over a fine net surface.Black and white image of a white girl's smiling face, divided in the center and pulled apart, with a cloudy skyscape in the background.
