That they get upset? Yes, because we've seen it happen even when there are just allegations that a show is fake. People thinking a show is somehow still "true" despite all the editing is a different problem, but I think that supports Mike's claim.

I don’t think it’s possible to improve on the original film of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold but I’m interested to see a series that incorporates the later retcon.

Makes me think of this set of bumper stickers I saw recently.
The back of a car with several bumper stickers. One says "Imagine No Religion". A second one says "The ONLY WALL we need is between CHURCH and STATE". A third is the logo for the Unitarian Universalist Church.

A lot of people read Isaacson's biography of Jobs (or at least a few excerpts of it) and somehow came away with the idea that being a dickwad is the essential bit of being a visionary leader. The "dickwads can't make good stuff" argument is mostly an overreaction to that.

Sometimes it frustrates me that my dog hasn't figured out he can push a door open a little wider if he wants to get in the room (even though he's seen the cats do it plenty of times) but most of the time it's actually quite helpful.
