hey folks! Minneapolis/St. Paul continue to struggle with the economic fallout of the ICE occupation there, and we need to help them. I'm auctioning this piece of stained glass, titled Fuck ICE and designed/constructed during the occupation, to benefit those families.

Fuck ICE, 13"x13", transparent and opalescent glass in lead came with a zinc border, February 2026.

The piece is a square matrix of blue, white, and transparent glass, with the size of pieces ranging from half-inch squares to 3"x1" rectangles. Transparent borders produce a floating effect for blue and white constructions with a crystalline motif.

in glass I make that isn't an absurd crock of shit, here's something that came together last fall.

titled "golden #1", the piece is an interpretation of the Golden Gate Bridge. framed by swooping catenaries above and below, the composition is predominantly defined by two sections of linear-cut heavily-textured orange-red glass, running top to bottom at left and right. overlapping cross-beams reach out between the two vertical linear portions, periodically breaking a transparent pale-blue region of negative space in the center.

anyway here's about a third of a keyboard made out of glass

it's a keyboard made out of glass. front view. warm greens at left transition into blues at right.

it's a keyboard made out of glass, viewed from the left. oranges and yellows predominate.

it's a keyboard made out of glass! Lots of greens and blues over here at the right end.

if i ran a "fuck ice" fundraiser auction for this piece, would anyone be interested?

A square stained-glass mosaic panel made up of three sizes of rectangle and two sizes of squares. The predominant colors are dark blue, light blue, white, and clear, with varying levels of transparency.

practice makes slightly less imperfect

a closeup of a 2u by 2u section of a keyboard PCB design with hotswap sockets in kicad. an RP2040 is near the center, with NOR flash, an ESD protection circuit, and a seven-pin JST connector to the right. to the left is a crystal and a voltage regulator. traces fan out in various directions showing that the circuit can be connected to the whole board without blocking any key placement.

why do i design pieces that are a massive pain to implement??

A stained-glass panel in progress lies on a wooden workbench, pinned over a printed pattern. The design is a precise grid of nested squares and rectangles made from lead came, filled with deep cobalt blue, clear, white, and pale blue glass pieces. Horseshoe nails hold the came in place along the edges and intersections.

do ppl like this draft design for a stained glass piece?

The design for a vertical rectangular panel, with a 1:2 aspect ratio. Four long vertical strips run along each of the left and right sides, with clusters of horizontal strips cross between them near the top and the bottom. The interstitial space is uncolored, indicating the use of transparent glass, while the vertical and horizontal strips are colored in International Orange.

in a world that does not want our voice that does not want our existence we will exist and thrive and be loud

Dyke joy has incomparable power. We blatantly celebrate our joy as an act of resistance against a society that attempts to extinguish our visibility, strength, and happiness.

today's dyke march value! initially this one was a bit confused because we tried to wedge "bodily autonomy" and "right to care" into the same place. but they're different!

Dykes know that every kind of medical care is a necessity. We won’t be satisfied until every person, including incarcerated people, can access every form of care they need without laws or institutions that restrict safe access to abortions, birth control, and gender-affirming care, and without any consideration of cost.

this one was really important to me.

We are Dykes who advocate fiercely for all Dykes and each other. We reject attempts to exclude or evict transgender and nonbinary Dykes of all gender expressions from a community to which they have always belonged. We actively protect their safety, dignity, and joy in every context.

another dyke march value! this one is awesome and so easy to talk about. people get to define what they do with their bodies. full stop, no exceptions.

Bodily autonomy is the absolute right of every Dyke and every person. We refuse to recognize or tolerate laws that infringe on that right, including laws that criminalize sex work, and we affirm and celebrate the self-expression and self-care of all Dykes.

another day, another dyke march value!

We are Dykes of many races, nations, ages, faiths, abilities, sexualities, and genders. We celebrate each Dyke’s contribution to our full diversity, reject any attempt to exclude a self-declared Dyke, and refuse to tolerate behaviors like racism, classism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, religious intolerance, biphobia, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ageism, ableism, and fatphobia

so for the last 9 months or so I've been involved with rebooting the SF dyke march. we're a week out and posting one of our core values every day, so that gives me a chance to talk about them—how we got there, what resonates with me. this is the first one on the list.

We Dykes are against war, imperialism, and all forms of genocide, including the ongoing US-backed genocide in Palestine. We oppose the use of political, institutional, and military power to oppress marginalized groups of people, including native peoples, Black people and other people of color, immigrants, asylum seekers, people with disabilities, and transgender individuals.

design is done. glass happening soon.

A pattern for a stained glass window. There is a pillar on either side stretching up to an arch that reaches between them. Under that arch are three panes divided horizontally, a lintel going across, a section divided into four that has an overlapping diamond set at the center, and below that are theee more panes. Recurring graphical themes are an angle continuing across the piece, and the inset of curve-ended narrow pieces in wide straight pieces.

just finished assembling this bb. the transition from foil to came is a STEEP learning curve but i can feel myself picking up speed already, and processes are clicking a bit.
