I've had to learn about some of the weirdness working with 2d maps lately. The world is round, it turns out. I wrote a bit about how you calculate things which cross the anti-meridian line. Probably everyone who's ever worked with maps knows this, but I didn't. jeromegill.com/blog/antimer...

Great trick! I actually find myself doing something like that when working with llms. It's really helpful to get them to explain stuff like that because they actually can't a shocking amount of time It breaks the spell of the technobabble illusion of competence

I hate to say it but after a month of coding with Mistral, switching back to Claude feels like a dramatic improvement. I tried mistral for the sake of giving "European" tech a chance, but it just isn't good enough. Claude became "good enough" some time last year. I hope Mistral catches up.

Social media doesn't randomly stop being harmful at 16, and bans won't prevent under 16s from accessing it. Meaningful change means banning harmful practices that affect everyone such as infinite scroll and "for you" feeds. Feeds should be only accounts you follow by default.

Been using Mistral Vibe for a while for the sake of using European tech I was trying BDD with cucumber which is pretty cool Unfortunately, to "pass the tests" instead of implementing features in the app, it just inserted stuff directly in the db in the tests then checked if they were there. Lol
