The only folks in the documentary who still have anything to do with TST are the founders. Everyone else has left. It’s a terrible organization.

And let's not pretend that, were people to completely ignore them, that wouldn't also turn into a complaint. I remember when some of TST's stunts didn't get media coverage and just how angry that made TST's owners.

This whole thread, right here. It's so fucking disingenuous to make your whole persona that of a cheeky provocateur and then scream like a soccer player faking an injury when you manage to provoke someone.

I have discovered the wonders of strawberry spinach. It's a spinach-like green that, when left to bolt, produces mildly sweet berries. I'm going to sow some and see how they go. My persimmon tree is still persimmoning. Hoping to harvest the end of the month. Figs are done, bless their figgy hearts.

I remember this argument happening at some Houston gun shows, circa 2009, where on closer inspection some of the "historic artifacts" were made in China.

So is slapping the “hahaha Satan lol” label on those abortions really worth the extreme cost inefficiency? Also… how do we know they are competent in things like securing patient data? My time in the organization tells me that they make noise about privacy, but it’s only noise.

Jenny Green @jennygreen.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
It all kind of falls apart when you think about the numbers. They claim to have facilitated just over 100 abortions. They claim to have raised over $500k. Those are some wildly expensive non-surgical abortions, all of which were done in states that ALREADY had that access.

My classroom window looks out onto the school’s garden, so all day I can look out onto the bird drama. Currently the blue jays are at war with the squirrels. I’m on Team Jay.

Despair is when, after three classroom observations by executive-level administrators, your sole piece of feedback is that you should not allow your advanced English students to do any task for more than two minutes without interruption.

It's so damned unfair to refer to it as a "history of animosity." How about "a proven and documented history of being a victim of this group's abuse, including a SLAPP suit and a smear campaign"?
010
Jenny Green @jennygreen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
How do you think someone who was sued for four years by TST should act? TST didn't just sue them, they made multiple appeals for the express purpose (according to their attorney in a public statement) of driving up legal fees to punish them. How should a victim of prolonged financial abuse behave?

Privately, his co-founder has spouted anti-trans talking points about people influencing children to change their gender and such.

I don't doubt that he congratulates himself on it frequently. And his organization will take trans money and labor, sure. But during the whole Silverman debacle, he refused to dialogue with trans members who were hurt and concerned by it.

Jenny Green @jennygreen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
While many members of TST are pro-LGBTQ+, I very much hesitate to label the organization that way, at least the "T" part of the label. Despite the trans pride merch in their store, executive-level leadership is, at best, skeptical of trans identities. At best.

That exchange re: Parfrey is worth a closer look, IMO. Doug's historical and ongoing favoritism for the "free speech" of white supremacists - here including Augustus Sol Invictus - is a part of TST history that its veteran members prefer to pretend doesn't exist when marketing it as an LGBT+ refuge

R.I.P. essayist, author, publisher, cultural engineer, collaborator, and curator of The Satanic Temple headquarters' first art exhibition, Adam Parfrey. Honored to have known him.

Parfrey was deep in fascist circles and was one of the most pernicious figures who helped inject those politics into ‘80s and ‘90s counterculture.

He was also friends with Gore Vidal, subscribed to some troublesome conspiracy theories, and was intrigued by radicalism from all sides. I think he was a man obsessed by extremes, but he was decidedly of a liberal bent in the time I knew him, these more recent years.

He was not just “intrigued” by extreme ideas but an active participant in contemporary fascist discussion circles

In any case, while I understand your concerns, TST is so fundamentally un-fascist that if a resurrected Mussolini joined us, we'd be no bit more fascist for it, he'd be fully converted from it. I think Parfrey understood & appreciated this of us. We should celebrate such cases.Lucien Greaves

in Parfrey fascists found a rare collaborator who gave them a platform & different audience. i find that extremely dangerous. it's less TST and more your own seeming tolerance for these collaborators (like Augustus) that worries me,
@LucienGreaves
. it's why i did not join TST.

you didn't 'defend' his free speech. you used your celebrity to try to force a private conference to reverse a decision about their curation. maybe you should stop yr dishonesty about what you did with the Atlanta conference. you seem like a useful idiot of fascism from here.

I'm still getting late season figs from my trees, and they're the sweetest I've had so far. The squirrels and birds aren't stalking my trees 24/7 anymore, so I can let them fully ripen. My mature trees are both honey fig varietals, and I'm really enjoying the last fruits of the year.

That’s incredible. I tried to make a hummingbird friendly yard in central Houston, but just never had any success. Tons of native butterflies though, so that’s my consolation prize!

Also, how are they protecting patient data? Because I know how shitty their data practices are in every other realm of the organization.

They are not providing abortions anywhere it isn’t already uncomplicated to access. They claim to have provided just over 100 telehealth abortions. They claim to have raised over $500k. What could a real abortion fund do with that much money? Why are they raising so much and providing so little?

I realized that I have a lot of plants that host native caterpillars, but the only thing the adult butterflies have been eating in my garden has been the juice from split open figs. So I'm going to put in some native lantana for them.

My passion vine flowered and then was abruptly wrecked in a storm. It's come back and is budding all over again. It's also shooting up all over the garden bed. I can see how these things take over. I have milkweed planted to its side, and I think I'll put in some lantana. Butterflies everywhere!

My sunchokes, which are now taller than I am, are blooming their tiny sunflowers. They smell like chocolate. Pruning my older fig trees made them explode with growth, The trees went from low, bare branches to about 12 ft tall. I've gotten some figs, but the pests this year have gotten most of them.

Out of my pepper plants, only the Mariachi variety has produced. The leaf miners wrecked the others. I did San Marzano tomatoes in grow bags, and I'll never do that again. They kept drying out and didn't establish strong plants like last year. I got some tomatoes, but not as many as I should have.

Jenny Green @jennygreen.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
They are always seeking funds but have no transparency about where it goes. They claim to have provided just over 100 telehealth abortions (in states where they were already legal) and have raised over $500k. How many abortions could a real abortion fund provide with that much money?
010
Jenny Green @jennygreen.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
TST’s telehealth clinics don’t do anything that other existing groups don’t do better. By their own sources, they’ve provided barely over 100 abortions, but their fundraising has been over half a million dollars. It’s an expensive media stunt and a hope grift.

Beware. The founders of TST are very anti-public schools. I'm a long-time public school teacher, and a former member of the organization.

It makes me sick to think about just how much good a real abortion fund could do with $11,000 vs what TST does with that money. In years of operations, TST has done, according to their sources, just over 100 telehealth abortions. How much have they raised for their "clinics?" Half a mil?

My second year Saijo persimmon tree has a several fruits on it that are about the size of small limes now. I'm kind of shocked that the tree even flowered, much less set fruit. They should be ripe October-ish.

I pruned my fig trees down to the point where I was certain I wouldn't get any figs this year, and BOW HOWDY I was wrong. The trees are now bigger and more beautiful than before I pruned. Didn't get a breba crop (since that's on the previous year's wood), but it's covered in forming main crop figs.

One of our dachshunds who has since departed this world used to just stretch his whole body out in the sun and lie there for a good while. We called it "recharging his solar panels." Our other boy does not get to go outside unsupervised because he uses his entire face (and teeth) when he digs holes.

They are very good at creating a narrative people really want, the cheeky underdog sticking it to the theocrats. Unfortunately, they just don't deliver. Oh, and they file SLAPP suits against their former members. It's so disappointing.

This is great news. A former friend of mine is an animal hoarder disguised as a rescue. She’s moved from state to state, grifting donations, hurting animals, and ruining the property of anyone unlucky enough to house her.

if a position of authority can be misused in this way, that position of authority should not exist. It's clearly not enough to simply change who is in that position, no more than praying that the next king be better than the last.
