“Seven Ways Through a Wood” by @jennreese.bsky.social and @devinellekurtz.bsky.social is pure enchantment. Reese’s playful, prose invites you to choose your path, ride a griffin, stow away on a moss giant or take your own path. Kurtz’s glowing art brings it to glorious life. #PictureBookPage

I'm so disappointed in @sfwa.org for this. I understand that by requiring disclosure of partial LLM-created works, as their announcement states, means SFWA's letting "nominators and the voters" make the final decision. BUT YOU'RE STILL ALLOWING SUCH WORKS ON THE NEBULA AWARDS FINAL BALLOT! 1/

I read a picture book for kids and it got me in the feels. Recommended for readers of any age who want the reminder that staying on a straight path is not the only way to navigate a deep, dark forest. SEVEN WAYS THROUGH THE WOODS, by Jenn Reese and Devin Elle Kurtz 🌿
A picture book stands on grass with an oak tree behind it. On the cover is a dark-haired girl smiling as she turns to walk into a forest, with a griffin glimpsed flying through the trees. The title is SEVEN WAYS THROUGH THE WOODS, by Jenn Reese, art by Devin Elle Kurtz

Moss Giant 🍀
A digital painting of a huge giant made of moss. She looks like an elderly woman with a walking stick, but is purely green, and has a cloak that looks like patches of different moss species. She walks through a lush forest full of rainbow birds, in front of a blue sky with white clouds.

Here we see a big, expansive wide image of rolling hills in a forest clearing. A rainbow procession of children leaps through a bright green field on the right. Above them, rainbow dragon-like serpents weave through evergreen trees. A mossy giant with a cape of patchwork grasses towers above the treeline and walks with a walking stick. A woodland pixie sits on a treebranch in a foreground tree which bisects the painting. A red flower releases sparkling, golden pollen on the left. The sky is blue, and golden afternoon light pours diagonally from the left.

SEVEN WAYS THROUGH THE WOODS is coming! I'm beyond thrilled to be working with editor Martha Mihalick and the incredible Devin Elle Kurtz, whose work I've been drooling over for years. This whole process has been a dream come true.
Martha Mihalick at Greenwillow has bought, at auction, world rights to Seven Ways Through the Woods, the picture book debut by A Game of Fox & Squirrels author Jenn Reese (l.), illustrated by Devin Elle Kurtz, in which an intrepid narrator invites readers on a fantastical journey through the woods, celebrating curiosity, imagination, and wonder. Publication is slated for fall 2025; Holly Root at Root Literary represented the author, and Seth Fishman at the Gernert Company represented the illustrator.

I am loving my ceramic sculpture class! The assignment was to build a vase over 12" tall by pinching various random "units" of clay together. I wasn't sure what this would end up being, but I kind of love it. (I still have a chance to ruin it during the glazing part, never fear.)
A tall clay vase with mismatched slabs of clay, thin and tall, with some pieces given a nubbly texture and two tiny mushrooms affixed in the middle. The whole things looks like abstract bark.
