The Trump administration removing 750k+ from coverage is part of a larger pattern. Allowing premium subsidy enhancements to expire, putting up new administrative barriers to enrollment, and eliminating subsidy eligibility for many all amount to fewer Americans with affordable health coverage.

This giveaway gimmick wouldn’t help the people it’s aimed at, and it *really* wouldn’t help the millions of marketplace enrollees who qualify for subsidies but are still struggling, nor the growing number of people who have dropped coverage because it’s no longer affordable and are now uninsured.

This week’s 16th anniversary of the #ACA marks an unfortunate turning point for ACA marketplaces: More people are likely to go uninsured because of affordability concerns and many will face higher health costs, as federal policy decisions that increase premiums and red tape take hold.
