I realised today that I’ve now finished writing 6 novels, and am planning on completing the first draft of a 7th before the end of this year - none have been published (yet, hopefully) but for someone who never thought they could finish even one, I’m really proud of myself!

I realise it’s been a while since I posted any updates, but it’s because I’ve been busy with an exciting project! Last week my sapphic SF horror novel, DO NO HARM, went out on submission to publishers. I had a lot of fun writing it! To celebrate, here’s some artwork I created for it 🙂

#CoverReveal alert! Behold the cover art for our new anthology Haverin, designed by our own Jenni Coutts. Look carefully and you'll spot some sneaky clues to the tales inside. Celebrating 40 years of the GSFWC, #Haverin is out October 2026 from Taverna Press. #GSFWC40 @jennicoutts.bsky.social(1/2)
The cover of Haverin, the GSFWC anthology, which features a red-haired girl reading while surrounded by books and a cat in a green space. Text reads: Featuring: Neil Williamson, E.M. Faulds, Christopher Caldwell, Eliza Chan and many more. Haverin, Edited by Brian M. Milton, Peter Morrison and Heather Valentine. The back of the cover of Haverin, continuing the green landscape dotted with various creatures, including a robot head, lion, and a pie. Text reads: Haverin, Scots, Verb: Talking in a foolish or trivial manner, speaking nonsense. Glaswegians enjoy a bit of haverin and few enjoy it more than the Glasgow SF Writers' Circle have for the last forty years, following many hard critique sessions with a bit of a haver in the pub. This anthology is a celebration of those forty years, with more than forty stories of Fantasy, Science and the Odd from members past and present. Join us on this fantastical journey, turning havers into stories and revelling in the full range of writing that has come out of the Circle since 1986.

@glasgowcitycouncil.bsky.social ‘s decision to allow an AI generated mural to be painted on a listed building instead of, I don’t know, commissioning one of this city’s hundreds of incredibly talented artists, is absolutely disgusting. The image is laughable (if it wasn’t so galling).
Is that a fucking bald eagle? 😂 seriously though, for those who cannot see, this image is an absolutely shite version of an older man stood above a steam train with an bald eagle floating over them, with bad proportions and weird clouds, and an eagle that isn’t even found in Scotland. I can’t even.
