This was a nice surprise to get in the mail today, as I pre-ordered it months ago and thought it was coming in June 😅 I love so much the way @nikostratis.com writes about music; I've really been looking forward to this book. bookshop.org/p/books/the-...
Hardcover edition of The Dad Rock That Made Me a Woman by Niko Stratis, laying on a wooden table.

I think my experiment failed, I can't get most of it out of the jar. 😂 Though I did get a couple little pieces to examine up close.
A large glass jar sitting on the counter. There are white crystals growing densely on the bottom and up the sides of the interior. It really looks like snow collecting on a window. The same jar from above, so you can see the side without looking through the glass.I'm holding up the same jar with one hand so I can show the view straight down into it. The crystals growing up the side have been removed, but the bottom is covered with a dense layer of crystal stuck at the bottom of the jar.A little piece of homegrown crystal sitting on a black surface.

And now, we wait
A large wide mouth glass jar, without a lid, sitting on my kitchen counter. It's filled with a clear but cloudy liquid, and there's a white dome shaped "seed stone" resting on the bottom, as well as some white powder that didn't fully dissolve in the liquid. Looks a bit like snow. Behind the jar, out of focus, you can see some of the rest of my kitchen.

Santa surprised me, a 41 year old woman, with my one and only Christmas gift this year. Santa's also the only one who includes my middle name when addressing mail to me, aside from my folks.
Resting on my kitchen counter, a still-in-box National Geographic Glow-in-the-Dark Jumbo Crystal Growing Lab, with a bright illustration of a glowing green crystal on the front. The background is purple and it's surrounded by purple crystals. An Amazon gift note atop the same box that reads: "A gift for you. Just a little magic. From Much Love, Santa"

When you have to say a word out loud that you've only previously encountered on the page
"I wish them all the best, and mean that sincerely, but then you got to figure out how to build the bridge to actually make it happen in government, since right now, while 'doggie' is a great concept, there is a lot of people asking correctly, so how am going to do that?" GOP Rep. Mark Amodei of Nevada, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, told CNN.

I did such a good job voting in the local runoff they let me have two stickers.
Car selfie of me, wearing a grey hoodie and purple sunglasses, holding up two stickers with drawn art by high school students in my county.

One sticker reads "I voted!", with a magnolia bloom and a bird in the foreground and a government-looking building and what I believe is supposed to be Stone Mountain in the background. On the mountain are two tiny flags flying on poles, one American and one for the state of Georgia, under a blue sky.

The second sticker reads "DeKalb Voter", with a bald eagle perched on the A. The words are flanked by peach trees, and in the background is an orange hill that may be Stone Mountain, but to me looks like a volcano, with a blue sky behind it.

Yes, though sometimes...
Screenshot of a recipe blog post for pot roast. At the top is an image of pot roast in a dish, followed by the absolutely real text:

"Welp! It was a crazy day today. My family and I woke up to the thrilling sounds of a S.W.A.T. team surrounding the neighbor's house across the street from us at a ripe old 7 a.m. We got to witness a 6-hour standoff between cops, S.W.A.T, and US marshalls against a man that had been barricaded inside the house. INSANE. Back to reality though...

It's my little brother's birthday and he specificaly asked for a pot roast for his birthday dinner! And you know me.. can't just leave well enough alone. I've always got to shake things up a little. I had found this really cool idea for a 'cowboy' style pot roast a while back, and thought, what better time than now to make it my way!"

They lean heavily on the peach, even though the people who actually live here don't really have that association top of mind. The "I secured my vote!" text is a recent add that made them uglier. IMHO the stickers feel like marketing for Georgia SOS, when they should be marketing for *democracy*.
A Georgia voter sticker featuring an illustration of a peach, superimposed with the text "I'm a Georgia Voter". Underneath the peach is additional text reading, in all-caps, "I secured my vote!"
