Also midday update on the heat: Central Arkansas has been added to today's Heat Advisory. Little Rock has already reached 101 degrees today (officially measured at the airport). This is now the 11th consecutive 100-degree day, tying for the 2nd longest streak in recorded LR history.

Midday update, Saturday, 8/22: The SPC has upgraded parts of northern, central, & eastern Arkansas to a level 2 out of 5 risk. Scattered storms this afternoon into the overnight could be strong to severe, with the main hazard being damaging wind gusts. There's also a risk of isolated large hail.

We now have at least 11 counties in Arkansas under a burn ban until further notice. This prohibits all outdoor burning. Counties included: Logan, Yell, Howard, Hempstead, Miller, Lafayette, Columbia, Bradley, Dallas, Lincoln, and Jefferson. More counties are likely to be added.
