Listening to @jamesstout.bsky.social's episode of Natural Causes discussing the Roadless Rule, I can't help but see the parallels between how the colonial mindset adds value to nature for being "untouched" and the purity culture concept of virginity. Both are about white male ownership.

Oh hey, I stumbled upon some old emails from my parents recently and IT WAS EVEN WORSE. Like, they really wanted me to be their emotional support animal during their divorce. I was trying to regulate EVERYONE’S emotions and wasn't allowed to feel my own. No wonder I have this anxiety disorder.

Update: Last weekend, my therapist identified my mom's behaviour as abusive—and I was minimizing her politics when I described her behaviour; I alluded to politics, but I wasn't ready to share it all yet.
