I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole. Reading up on the Ontario Water Corporations bill so I can answer questions for others. Extremely disappointed to see City of Kitchener submitted comment in FAVOUR of it during consultation. #ONpoli

I’m looking at my LinkedIn profile. Something I do once or twice a year when I go to the site. There’s an entire job (TA) when I was in grad school that I can’t bring up any memories of. I know I did it but not a single memory…

I went doorknocking for a candidate today. A lot of “no answer” (even when I could see them). I get it - people keep to themselves a lot more these days. Had a couple interesting conversations. I still don’t understand people who vehemently say they won’t vote in municipal elections.

Went to city hall today to see election financials from 2022. Woowee big developers really do like to donate to municipal candidates. Even if they live an hour or more away. (Note donation cap is $1200 but sometimes 2-3 members of a family donate the limit)

This is not an endorsement but check out Kitchener Ward 1 Scott Davey’s website. He includes little animations for fire, roadworks, snowplows. Sdavey.ca

QC election: the governing party won 0 seats. First Conservatives elected since 1935. PQ wins minority government but Liberals might have the popular vote. Maximum chaos. Best of luck to anyone trying to draw orderly conclusions from this; that’s not what we do here.

I was looking for the 2022 municipal election candidate financials today. Some municipalities in the Region of Waterloo make it really easy. Some do not. Also learned City of Waterloo doesn’t have a general email.

If you are voting in the city of #waterloo, please do your research on all the candidates. You will find that mayoral candidate Shannon Weber and her husband, Dan Weber, who ran for the PC's in 2018, are both long term, faithful members of Doug Ford's corrupt party.

With all the municipal election stuff in Ontario, I forgot Quebec has one tomorrow. Saw this video on IG featuring students (1st, 2nd Gen) talking about their principal running for the PQ, essentially an anti-immigrant party. www.instagram.com/reel/DeF8KYx...

Shannon Weber says taxes have gone up much more compared to Kitchener & Waterloo. Says will keep taxes to inflation and focus on critical infrastructure & services. #WRvotes

Mayor McCabe has a cold but is here. For taxes she doesn’t believe in raising them but also doesn’t want to cut services. Seek effieciencies through technology and shared procurement. #WRvotes

The tax question. Jamie Hari says change how we tax (higher value homes pay more). Jerry Jiang says he didn’t fill out surveys because they force a binary. “Taxes aren’t a yes or no” solution. #wrvotes

Truly standing room only at the Waterloo Mayor all candidate meeting. Unfortunately candidates are not on a raised platform; they have been asked to stand when speaking. #wrvotes #waterloo

I’m trying to get fellow unionists to assist canvassing for a candidate. I sent my email in late afternoon and only 1 person has signed up (& she was working with me on it already). Hoping everyone is a morning email reader.

I don’t need these notices. Email says to change notifications in settings but option literally doesn’t exist. I guess it’s fine knowing people want to support my aunt (Lois Ward in London Ward 10)💚

Disturbing to hear how our democracy is being undermined bit by bit, particularly with strong mayor powers & the provincial appointment of our Regional chair who will have those powers.
