Same thing happened to Canada, which also had a Trump-approved Free Trade Agreement from 2018. He ripped it up this year because his word means nothing. So Canada is now seeking closer ties with the EU, not the U.S.

Canada here. Trump’s decision exemplifies why we expect nothing from these negotiations. Canada has a right to tax companies which operate on its territory. Trump doesn’t get a veto. We’ll have to reorient our trade towards more reliable partners. There may be an economic price, but we don’t care.
