Cheezo Check-In: Talk to Your Kids About “Finstas” and Private Accounts Many kids use secondary or private accounts known as finstas—short for “fake Instagram” accounts—to share more personal or unfiltered content with a smaller group.
Cheezo Check-In graphic titled “Finstas & Private Accounts.” A smartphone with a padlock represents a private social media account. Text explains: A finsta is a “fake Instagram” account, and private doesn’t always mean protected. Screenshots can make private posts permanent; content shared with a small group can spread quickly; peer pressure may be stronger in these spaces; risky posts can affect a child’s digital footprint; and strangers may still gain access if accounts aren’t carefully managed.
