I’m confused , as to why hardly anyone in the media is discussing the fine print in the MOU. Carney got Smith to sign off on carbon capture, industrial carbon pricing, and renewables. That’s a huge accomplishment. To me that’s a bigger story than a pipeline that most likely will never be built.

The UCP put out a statement claiming a special committee had voted to recommend a referendum question for this October, offering Albertans a choice on whether to remain in Canada. But the release went out while the committee was still meeting and hadn’t actually finalized anything.

There is a reason that we do not have MLAs decide on electoral boundaries. Tossing out the Electoral Boundaries Commission and replacing it with a UCP-dominated committee is not just a bad idea. It is really bad for democracy. Ask the US, ask Hungary. This is not normal!

It is not the increase from 89 to 91 that is problematic. It is this part of the motion. Throwing out the Electoral Boundaries Commission (and all of their work) and instead creating a new committee of MLAs with a new advisory panel.
