I often think of this quote from Aristotle's Poetics w/r/t a lot of horror fiction that centers on a triumphal payback where supernatural forces exact revenge on often 1-dimensional villains standing in for real life people. I've written these stories in the past, I understand the appeal. 1/2

Writer friends, what do you consider the cutoff point between short story and novelette? I feel like 8,000 is pretty common, but to me 10,000 feels more correct.
