Help! I am looking for places in C18-19 literature where women are characterised via. their appreciation of novels, a la Austen's Northanger Abbey, chapter 6. Google no longer works and all of my ideas have left me. Any thoughts?

Since moving to a self-proclaimed “music town”, I have been reminded of something I knew aged 14-18 and had at some point forgot—that the only time I experience real quiet is when listening to live music with my eyes closed.

One of my favourite pieces of TO trivia is that Bay station has a lower level dating to a failed 1966 effort to run the subway N-W and E-S, and they keep a NY subway car that they can run on it for movies.

In fact, “Historic event: yes or no?” might be the most fundamental misunderstanding of how history is done that I’ve seen outside of an undergraduate classroom. It’s not Big Brother, it’s the passage of time and culture…

Perfect. Thank you, Jeffrey! Will persist. Other possibility is that my institutional email is messing with his contact form.

It’s on my list and I would love a pdf! I need to knuckle down and write the introduction to my book and it needs to include a section on reading vs use. I would love a queerer lens to add to the discussion.

Question for new followers: where did y’all come from? I’ve had 30+ follows the last two weeks, but I haven’t been added to any new lists recently. Did I do something compelling that I’m unaware of?!

Thank you. This is really useful, for its bibliography as well as its own mentions! I think I’ll be able to give them a choice of reading for the class now.

One thing I wish people would realize is just how central JK Rowling is to the entire anti-trans ecosystem. Looking at a network node analysis of the top 200 anti-trans X accounts, she is the most central figure spanning both sides of the Atlantic from Republicans to Labour.
A network graph visualization on a dark background showing connections between various accounts. The central, highly connected node is labeled "J.K. Rowling," with lines radiating out to many other nodes color-coded by region (UK, US, etc.). A detail panel on the right displays stats for her account, including her role as "Author & commentator," an in-degree of 153, an out-degree of 84, and 14 million followers.A scatter plot graph on a dark background comparing accounts based on "followers (log)" on the x-axis and "in-degree" on the y-axis. The data points are color-coded by region. J.K. Rowling is highlighted as a major outlier in the top right corner, possessing the highest number of followers and the highest in-degree. Other labeled points lower on the graph include various politicians, individuals, and campaign organizations.

Anyone know of a good article/chapter on the use of mimeography, spirit duplication, or some other home/office copying tech in the civil rights movement? Suitable for engaged upper level undergraduates who will be looking at these materials in person?

Sad news I've only just heard: Albert Derolez has left us. He was 91, and one of the foremost palaeographers and codicologists in the world.
Albert Derolez last year, holding his latest publication on the Liber Floridus, a Dutch popular science book.

Me! First time I did it (UK to Canada) I used mybaggage.com and I found it reasonably priced and very quick (caveat that this was 7+ yrs ago). They ship with dhl and they beat me to Toronto. Last time I used them was 2 yrs ago (for a more random selection) and still found it a convenient way to go.

Does Newfie English have a habitual form of the verb “to be” (she do be)? I say this because your comment strikes me as very Irish syntax, born out of direct translation of Gaeilge and I found do be both charming and a very useful verb form.

Of course, that makes sense. Although about 50% of these do imply that the piano is local and available for pick up.

No. But I receive a scam email about one at least once every two weeks: they seem to be the email scam our institutional email system is least adept at filtering out.

A silly question, perhaps, but I really need someone to explain to me in very small words--What is the objective of the free piano scam emails? What happens when you say you want the piano?

Werewolves in medieval Europe: romances vs trials. The rethink I did for my MSt was much better, but my undergrad did make me teach myself to fumble through old French; go find a thesis (and its author) at the Warburg institute; and meet with an academic outside my institution for the first time.
