That is a quality wren. The carolinas are more brown than gray but the proportions and markings are pretty much the same.

Yeah we had a 25yo one whose tank refused to stay full. Replaced the seal three times and each one failed within a year. So when they had to pull it out to put down a new floor, it didn’t come back.

We got a new one recently, and we’re required to book everything through it. But it still requires the worker to submit a receipt. Except that hotels send it to the platform and refuse to provide it to the worker. And this big platform is acting like it’s a hard thing to fix.

Thousands of government sites run on USWDS. It's what makes them 508 compliant, trustworthy and easy to update. We're scrambling to make backups in case of catastrophe, but this will be a hugely time-consuming and costly mistake if they intend to rip it out and replace it with vibe coded trash.

AlphaFold was doing real good work but since it wasn’t a sexy LLM just a domain-trained ML Alphabet killed it. There are others, iirc at least one or two looking at pharmaceuticals, but they don’t hit the news since they lack the buzzwords

but it is very obviously *not doing it the way humans do it*, which, again, we know because small children can learn to speak without having to ingest the entire corpus of written language. A two-year old can identify a cat after seeing at most like five cats and maybe a dog and a groundhog.

Mostly Hunts with a few Speedballs mixed in, nothing particularly fancy I don’t think iirc clogging is more about the ink than nibs. No acrylics, and India ink is sus as well, it’s too crusty for nibs. Scratching could be from having to press too hard, it should flow out real easy.

Back in my clayboard days my favorite was dip pen with pelikan tusche ink, but it’s a huge pain in the ass to find these days. I’ve heard good things about deleter 4, might get some and try

It’s nice as a pen but the ink is dye-based so it’s pretty thin. Fine for lines but tricky for washes.

Hey #cyanotype peeps, ideas why these came out so pale? Jacquard solution on printmaking paper, peroxide bath, dried overnight between newsprint. They came out of development pretty good but have lost a lot of saturation

Don’t know about the rest of the triangle, but it seems like here in Cary most of the new builds are mixed-use apartments and/or townhomes. I don’t know if that’s a town initiative or just because there’s not much area left for building in the town limits.

Speaking as a UI dev, if I’m reading you right I’d say that is pretty much idiomatic and what I’d probably go for. Having the button and the popout container be separate is annoying for data reasons, but it’s easier for layout and often layout wins.

what i'd like to contribute to the ongoing masculinity discourse is that the truest sign of a fella's manfulness isn't his strength or his height or his successes with women. it's not about his job or how he dresses. it's about whether he has a cell-level desire to dig a big hole at the beach

Good luck googling it, though, the term’s been replaced by the modern style of drifting, which is very much not a racing maneuver

010

jason dupertuis @jdpprintmaking.com · 13/07/2026

There’s a concept in racing called four-wheel drift where you can drift without losing static friction because you’re riding the limit of the tire deformation. IIRC it’s not a big thing anymore because of tire construction, but in the old days with pliable tires it was essential
