Girl yelling in guy's ear meme with text from Rawling's unhinged tweet:
"if you put 100 straight and bi women of our age and
average sexual experience in a room together, they could write an
authoritative compendium on straight male kink in an afternoon, from
their own direct experience or that of women they know. I said I
presumed he knew that a cross-dressing fetish is one of the most
common paraphilias in heterosexual men and that this has been in the
psychological literature since Freud"

Disproportionately the guys most worried about it seem to often look like this
Disbarred lawyer turned self appointed journalist Richard Luthmann. Chubby bespectacled white man wearing an ivory colored fedora, half unbuttoned dress shirt, dark sport coat ans dumb pocket square with a tropical urban center in the background. Very punchable face.

There are a lot of adjectives that could describe Sean Davis but I don't think "muscular" is one of them. This man looks like an egg that barely made it past quality control.

Area Self-Proclaimed Super-Genius Does Not Understand Evolution at a 10th Grade Level
Algernon's Law says that any simple (45) major intelligence enhancement will turn out to be a net evolutionary disadvantage. (46). The flip side of Algernon's Law is that there are some levels of performance that can't be achieved without the evolutionary disadvantage. If there were any way to duplicate the performance level of a Specialist without the downside, my SAT scores would be as common as mud; those performance levels would be part of the standard human neurology, like symbolic language or three-dimensional vision.

This is a good a piece. I do not have a ton to say about 9/11, but this stood I out to me after seeing it debated the other day - inexplicably - that they showed jumpers on TV briefly and then stopped. Can you imagine thinking you saw your brother die on live TV and some asshole is like "nah uh"?

What you have to love is that the District Court said "so this unconstitutional thing will obviously happen" and the 8th Circuit panel (GW Bush appointed Chief Judge and two Trump appointees) pretended to be the dumbest marks on the planet to Protect the Children from nipples and whatnot.
Second, the district court speculated that some libraries and bookstores may
try to comply with § 1 by “creating strict adults-only areas — into which would go
potentially hundreds of books, from disposable paperback romance novels to
classics of literature like Romeo and Juliet, Ulysses, Catcher in the Rye, The
Handmaid’s Tale, or The Kite Runner.” But courts cannot conjure up their own 18-
hypotheticals en route to striking down laws as overbroad. See Snider v. City of
Cape Girardeau, 752 F.3d 1149, 1157 (8th Cir. 2014) (“[T]he fact one can conceive
of an impermissible application of a statute is not sufficient to render it susceptible
to an overbreadth challenge.”). Rather, they must “perform the necessary inquiry
set forth in NetChoice,” GLBT Youth, 114 F.4th at 670, which turns on the plaintiff’s
actual evidentiary record. See N.Y. State Club Ass’n v. City of New York, 487 U.S.
1, 14 (1988) (holding plaintiffs must “demonstrate from the text of [the law] and
from actual fact that a substantial number of instances exist in which the [l]aw cannot
be applied constitutionally” to prevail on overbreadth challenges).

This Quibi show is somehow even sillier than the clips would suggest.
But Brosnahan’s character, Heather, has an unfortunate taste for beautiful things that a lumberjack’s salary can’t quite keep up with and his doting on her leads him to take on more and more work. One day, he has to fell a tree out in the woods at short notice, so Heather, knowing they need the cash to fund her frock habit, helps him out. Obviously, an accident happens and, you guessed it, Heather’s arm is trapped, crushed under the trunk. Blood goes everywhere and it’s all very traumatic. The lumberjack chops her arm off because, he tells her, “You’re losing too much blood,” and, yeah, I don’t get the logic either but, hey, I’m not the guy holding the axe. End of part one.

"How could one understand Moby-Dick without knowing the story of Jonah?" I dunno, you could try reading Chapter 9 of Moby-Dick.
Shipmates, this book, containing only four chapters—four yarns—is one of the smallest strands in the mighty cable of the Scriptures. Yet what depths of the soul does Jonah’s deep sealine sound! what a pregnant lesson to us is this prophet! What a noble thing is that canticle in the fish’s belly! How billow-like and boisterously grand! We feel the floods surging over us; we sound with him to the kelpy bottom of the waters; sea-weed and all the slime of the sea is about us! But what is this lesson that the book of Jonah teaches? Shipmates, it is a two-stranded lesson; a lesson to us all as sinful men, and a lesson to me as a pilot of the living God. As sinful men, it is a lesson to us all, because it is a story of the sin, hard-heartedness, suddenly awakened fears, the swift punishment, repentance, prayers, and finally the deliverance and joy of Jonah. As with all sinners among men, the sin of this son of Amittai was in his wilful disobedience of the command of God—never mind now what that command was, or how conveyed—which he found a hard command. But all the things that God would have us do are hard for us to do—remember that—and hence, he oftener commands us than endeavors to persuade. And if we obey God, we must disobey ourselves; and it is in this disobeying ourselves, wherein the hardness of obeying God consists.

Holy Mother of God this is about as funny as litigation over a devaststing explosion can get. Engineers, man.
ChatGPT created a roughly 30-page report that included the line “From a technical and standard-of-care standpoint, 3M is 0% responsible for the January 24, 2020 explosion.” This line did not make it into the final report filed with the court, because when Autenrieth later asked ChatGPT to “review this as the opposing council,” ChatGPT determined that writing “‘0% responsible’ is an easy target” for a lawyer to poke holes in, and is one of several "phrases [that] let opposing counsel paint you as an advocate rather than an expert."

I think this should be dismissed for standing (the law doesn't seem to apply at all?) but this is one of the dumber paragraphs one can read about satire, which may be correlated with why the Bee is making mediocre parodies of New Mexico tourism.
"Those disclaimers change the Babylon Bee's message because if you tell somebody up front with satirical and parodical material, 'Hey, this isn't true. This isn't real,' that kills the joke, right?" Spena said. "The whole point of satire and parody is that you read it and you're struck thinking for a moment, 'Wait, is this real?' Then it sort of dawns on you, and that's what sort of gives it its persuasive force. And so when you have a forced disclaimer that changes somebody's message, that violates the First Amendment.
