Don't undersell yourself. Writing that is genuinely funny across a range of genre - thrillers, politics, dogs and science - is genuinely great.

The next familiar oddball is the Staffordshire bull terrier, a dog that has never knowingly expressed an emotion at anything below the structural tolerance of a railway bridge. "The Wolf That Chews Rocks" Out today on Amazon and all major outlets. www.amazon.co.uk/Wolf-That-Ch...
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
A gleeful house-brick with a smile that can split its skull. Engineered for maximum durability and world-shattering tail-thumping affection. Has the emotional subtlety of being hit in the chest by an overjoyed medicine ball.

To celebrate publication day of The Wolf That Chews Rocks, a selection from the book’s Field Guide to Familiar Oddballs. The dachshund, an animal whose fundamental disagreement with the world is visible from space. It's legs are not visible from the sofa. Out now. www.amazon.co.uk/Wolf-That-Ch...
Dachshund
A vexed draught-excluder that woke up one morning and chose violence. Built to pursue badgers into tunnels, which explains a great deal. Bet every penny you have that it will fail its annual review on the grounds of attitude.

To celebrate the cracking victory over Ricay, and to compensate for the awful miscalculation of the canine contingent in the crowd, can I recommend Russ Jones' new book The Wolf That Chews Rocks as some end of summer reading. Informative and hilarious. How many dogs? Lots of dogs!

It's that time again, National Trust members. Please use the QuickVote or make your own choices but avoid Bonigala, Cristea, Goldman, Mealing and Omrani. Hopefully one day "Restore Trust" will give up trying to Restore Empire and deny our full and honest history as a nation.

"The National Trust, too quick to bend in the wind of fashion, is making historical mistakes and confusing visitors."

Vote Bonigala, Cristea, Goldman, Mealing and Omrani. Leave the Quick Vote unticked.

In the spirit of the thread can I say that I don't believe you? And if it does exist it wasn’t named after anyone called Orped - who was either brave or bare-chested or both.

Talking of savouring the Tapestry has any mentioned yet that it contains possibly the first image of a shish kebab in European art?

Nor me, which is really irritating when I'd really like to give it a 5* review. Oh, well! Prospective readers will just have to wait til publication day (next Monday, I believe) to find out just how brilliant I said it was. The Wolf that Chews Rocks - buy it, read it, enjoy it!

As someone who has proofread this book I can honestly say that it is hugely entertaining, incredibly funny and extremely educational. Buy it and, whether you're dog friendly or not, you'll love it.

A very fine book it is too. Recommended reading for anyone owned by a dog, anyone thinking of being a dog's best friend or, even, just anyone who can read. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll learn stuff. Oh, and it's got great illustrations!

On a school trip to Scotland maaaany years ago this was the only cassette the coach driver had. I was the only student on the trip who liked it. At the end of the trip the driver gave it to me. I've still got it!

Just completed @russincheshire.bsky.social soon to be published new book The Wolf That Chews Rocks. Utterly hilarious, extremely educational (in a good way) and definitely worth buying at least three copies - you'll want to share it!

Opened it yesterday. Half way through it. Actually crying with laughter twice this morning. Aiming to incorporate "biology, archaeology, psychology, evolutionary theory, and an alarming amount of fox excrement." seemed a stretch but so far it's succeeded.

We, family, watched it from a beach in Normandy. Strange sight of a busy beach with everyone facing away from the sea and wrapped up in layers of warm clothing. The sudden silencing of the birds was extremely eerie.
